The game has random items , random dungeons , items that make random things out of the random things.

So why not add random gibberish to the players that flame / rage ^^

This will not solve anything. Will just turn chat channels into psychiatric hospital branch.

As long as players have the free will to type what they want, nope it will never be solved.

Just saying id like to turn the coming mess into my amusement ^^

There are currently no consequences for trolling/racism/threats etc etc and so it will keep happening. A bigger ignore list will help for now, but I seriously hope for a report feature in the near future. With a game that's FTP, there's no reason not to give the boot to people who just come into the game to troll.

There has been warnings by samantha in HC chat about racism (not sure about default). But they appear to be automated, so i'm not sure about that. Trolling isnt really a bannable offense. Annoying? yes. But if you ignore them, they go away.

Hit F8, go to your screenshots folder under the game's main directory, open the screenshot with your favourite graphics editing program, crop the innocent to protect their...innocence, send evidence of such offences to support@grindinggear.com and we'll see about that whole 'no consequences' thing. Clunky, yes. Cumbersome, yes.

But far from ineffective.

Wouldn't it be easier to just email the Client.txt in the "Logs" subfolder to that email address?

Oh and this comment:

I would like to say thanks to all those who have been answering questions of new people like myself (and yes, I have read the FAQ) and for that reason I don't turn off gc even when the trolls are rampaging. I think the community is pretty good, and it's just a few people from Diablo who come over to start trouble.

They aren't people from diablo (possibly some, NOT ALL). Get your head outta your bottom.
Think it would be be a reasonably idea (when additional channels are made) to create a troll-free general chat; with some strict anti-trolling, anti-racist, anti-rude, ect, rules in place? If someone gets "reported" and it turns out they were in fact misbehaving, 30 day chat bans for everyone who partook in said misbehavings. If someone gets "reported" 10 times in 30 minutes, ban them until the situation can be looked at by a mod.

A nice chat where people don't have to read the immaturity would be great. No one would be forced to use it. I personally have been in general chat for about... 3% of my time playing. Here is a summary of what I see normally:

"
Newbie: Hey, I'm new, does anyone know what is a good build for a ranged class?
Person 1: God, I am tired of explaining things to people, go use the forums.
Person 2: your mother
Person 3: WTS XXXXXXXX, XXXX, XXXXXX XXXXX,
XXXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXXXXX, XXXXXXX, XXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXX, XXXXXXX, XX XXXXXX
Person 2: is a ranged class
Person 2: in bed
Person 1: Go to the forums and look at the builds.
Person 2: laast night
Person 4: Well, that would really depend on what type of ranged hero you wanted.
Person 2: ROFL, he wants
person 2: his mother!

Usually this is where I leave the chat and shake my head.

Maybe. I'm techtarded, and stuck in my ways. What is it people say on the Internets these days? Pics or it didn't happen? I got the pics, man. Right here.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
The chat log can be upwards of 20MB, so it would probably be easier to take a screenshot. It's good to reference the time as well, so support can check the logs if necessary.

My alpha log is currently at 40MB, so I shudder to think how large a beta log can be with all the chat that goes on.
Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.
First in the credits!

It's sad just how bad the trolling is. :(

Ingame chat isn't a forum. You can't expect the same rules to work there.
Why not? It's a place to hold discussions and ask questions, just like the forum. It's not different to the point that asking questions should be frowned upon and those asking should be insulted and told to go find the answer themselves.

Etc. (...)

We just had a major communication breakdown lol. I was just trying to state exactly what you said, the way chat works.

then say it should be restricted so the people who need it most can't use it?

I think this is a very reasonable suggestion, and I only meant the first few levels, which is about half an hour or so for a level 1 character. This is simply a measure to limit abuse from trolls, who log off create new characters with silly/offensive names, and/or just make dummy characters to come trolling to chat.

Do you jump straight into chat when you're new to a game? Surely new players can at least test the game for half an hour or so before starting to ask all sorts of questions?

In other games like EverQuest 2 free to play, they had a paywall. You paid the silver, permanent, package of 10$ for access to global chat. I was only trying to suggest here something that doesn't require a paywall.

Hope that makes more sense :)
