The trolling and rudeness has to stop!

Ne'ermind.

I've noticed the trolls haven't been so bad the past few days...anyone know if GGG implemented something to stop them?

Thread rezzed?
I hardly consider a thread with its last post barely over a week old 'dead' let alone 'rezzed'. This is still very pertinent.

And yes, I've seen a reduction as well. Samantha's back from her vacation. Not ENTIRELY sure if there's some correlation there but I've seen her cheery 'Hi guys' work wonders on a rambunctious chat...

May she never leave the computer ever again.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
That's probably what it is. I got in an argument with someone over something dumb in normal global chat (oops) and I got globally muted for 5 minutes and I never saw the other guy talk again so I'm assuming he got muted too. Later in cruel difficulty I asked if other people had been muted and a lot of them said they had been, which is probably a good thing. It seems like there aren't any moderators in global chat in the higher difficulties though.
The first real MMO that I got addicted to had local chat (on the same screen), yells (across a few screens, not available until level 15), whispers, in-game board posts (not writable until level 30), and a global yell on a ~10minute cooldown.

In addition, you had to get to level 90 (approx. getting to chaos in PoE) to even access the global yell, and you had to complete an expensive quest to learn it. And the first time you were punished for bad behaviour (theft and what passed for trolling in the late 90s), you lost the spell for several months and had to relearn it at your own cost.

I never had any problems with global chat in that game at all. Global was mostly looking for groups, co-ordinating global quests, maybe trading something rare, and declaring the start of a player-run event.

For the kind of mundane questions that we're currently using global for there were easily accessible tutors and abundant FAQs on the in-game board, and most anyone you'd walk up to would give you the 5 minutes to set you in the right direction.

I'm not sure if this is possible to attain anymore, and I know an anecdote doesn't carry much weight. Personally I'll answer as many questions in chat as I can and /ignore the obvious assholes, but we should see this as a community problem, not something GGG can fix with a magic bullet.

Dude, Keep shit like that to yourself, There is no need to spread crap about anyone in either these forums or in the game either. If you notice he is doing something inappropriate, let a dev know, not the community.
.....And that's all I have to say about that.

The trolling in this game has become absolutely ridiculous. Global chat has become an absolute mess with people bickering about Diablo 3 and other things. It is quite honestly sad. I would turn off global chat, but there are some actually good people in there, and it is very helpful. DO NOT feed the trolls, they get off on that. They will get bored and stop, like usual. And on top of this, even the non trolls are just so mean and rude to each other. Come on guys this game is so amazing, and I would just hate to see it destroyed by jerks.

once you are out of normal chat there isnt much troll talk

if it bothers you they have an ignore feature

get over it
