My opinion on "look it up":
We are in beta. To be a decent beta tester, you should at least have some basic awareness of the changes already planned, known bugs and have reviewed the FAQ/newbie guide to evaluate the information.
Even after beta, the information is there. Read it while downloading/installing/patching.
Telling someone to check the website isn't always about being a jerk about it. If they actually go find the information they see a ton of other info as well. Info that person might be asking about later on. It's called being proactive.
The other night someone asked if frost wall was a good skill. I answered "No". They went off as if I'm the troll. I told them there's an entire thread about each skill in the forum and, to boil it down to the answer they wanted, my opinion is, "no". But you can't even help people without typing out huge disclaimers. You give someone a value they don't like? Troll. You tell someone you don't think the build is viable? Troll.
Response to the MTGO example: Example fails. Most people who begin playing MTGO at least know the basics of the game. Those who are completely unaware are referred to FAQs by the ORCs (online Wizard reps).

Well said :)
However, Frost Wall is awesome when attached to a totem support gem.

People actually use global chat?
I turn that off immediately upon entering game, every time, and in every online game I have played that has something similar. Why would I want to chat with a bunch of rands anyway ;p

Oh I dunno, maybe because he's the DRAGON REBORN!
Anyway, I think I'm in the minority with my opinion on chat moderation. Basically, I don't want it. At all. You have an ignore list and you have the option to turn chat completely off. That's more than enough for me. However, I do hope that WHEN (because they will) they start moderating the chat, they at least keep it forgiving. Racial slurs and things like that I can definitely understand bleeping and banning. However, I like to see a good fiery discussion from time to time. I even enjoy trolls to a degree.
Like I said though, I realize I am the minority opinion, and honestly however they decide to moderate the chat will not affect how much I play the game or how much money I spend on it. This is a good community right now, and I think it will self-police (especially at higher diff levels) more than some of you realize.

'Everything that you need to play the game efficiently should be in game'. Its major game design principle. Not only in video games.
Take MTG (Magic The Gathering) for example (i choose this becayuse GGG have pro players in MTG as employees).
Did you even play MTG in its early days? We were scrambling for FAQs and errata constantly. It took WoTC several revisions over a matter of YEARS to get anything even vaguely resembling clarity on the cards alone.
Welcome to Path of Exile Closed Beta. Enjoy your black lotuses and your moxes while you can. ;)
LoL yeah I forgot about all that.

Major proof in banding. That was such a difficult concept to grasp all those years ago.

It's still impossible to grasp.
Ok, I'm going to attack with these 2 guys, and I get to decide where the damage they take is going to be allocated, but if you block with those 2 guys and they have banding as well then we have to flip 3 coins, and the best of 2 gets to decide how damage to the attacks is allocated, but if one of the attackers has trample well then everyone is fucked.

I see your banding and raise you a horsemanship.

Horsemanship was easy. It's flying but without reach.
