Get rid of 1 Week Races
There should definitely be shortes races though - such as one hour, two hour and three hour. I have a family (five month year old baby) and there is no way I can take part in anything more than two-three hours. Those races would be very exciting too so should be considered.
Truthfully the week races requires a tremendous hardcore mindset and alienates all but the most devoted PoE gamer. Its a very niche race with only a very small percentage of the gaming base having a chance of getting any reward of even finishing anywhere near the top. |

Do different types and lengths of races but do not get rid of the one week races just because there are people who can't participate in them with a chance of winning.

" Of course I'm being serious - if you push yourself to the extent that you cause yourself health issues in order to win some shiny pixels then you have way bigger problems going on in your life than just suffering from lack of sleep for a few days. If you show a complete lack of restraint at many things in life - eating, drinking alcohol, playing video games or whatever then you will suffer for it, but does it mean that people who can do these things responsibly should have to be restricted in what they do? You should be able to run your own races with your own rules. At least that is the plan. So anyone and everyone can run whatever they like.
But on the topic of one week races - I watched some streams yesterday and no, nobody with RL can do THAT. I would like to "vote" for week races with max daily hours played (12h tops, so I can take the dog out, get some food and sleep). |

" Ys this, just this and like @Nugiyen said limit the time per day like 8 hours max. Problem solved. GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.
This is coming straight from the heart <3 |

I will never understand the troglodyte thinking that comes up with this stupid shit.
I competed in both of the recent 1 week races, this last one my play time was somewhere around 5d,5h,30m. Its very unlikely I will ever compete in a 1 week again, at least party ones. I would consider a solo no trade one, but thats still unlikely. That being said: - You have no right to tell people how to play. - Its none of your business how many hours a day someone plays a game. - People who die from playing too long are seriously ill people. Its not the games fault. - People that are willing to account share will do it regardless of the environment. - They make shorter races. They aren't going anywhere. - Limiting the time defeats the purpose of long races, and its been pointed out that theres multiple ways to abuse this anyways. If you don't like long races for any reason, then don't compete in them. Leave the rest of us alone and fuck off. Last edited by Magnicon#6598 on Jan 21, 2013, 11:53:08 AM

Everyone should know by himself what he is able to do.
If I wanna play 72 hours without any break I can do it. I know by myself if I can handle this. There is no need in an "hour-maximum-timer". Anyway I don´t believe the stuff, that the peoples was died by playing video-games for to many hours at once. There where other facts that´s play a role. I love to use the edit button. :P

" Again: -You- can not do it but as the participation in these races shows, there are people who can. Not doing these races simply because you do not understand that there are people who enjoy this kind of activity over something else is wrong. My proposition still is: Have a variety of different races with different rules to cater to different people. Don't ban one week races. |
