Get rid of 1 Week Races
" I know where are you pointing here, sir. But still, it is a great solution and could give casuals aswell, a better chance in obtaining some rewards, when competing in 1 week races. GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever. Lol, in what universe is playing 6 hours a day considered 'casual'?
If you don't want to or cannot commit to participating in one week races, don't. There will be shorter races that you can compete in, there will be longer ones as well. Everybody wins. And even if you can't find one run by GGG that suits you, eventually you'll be able to make a league of your own and adjust the rules to exactly how you want them. Why is this still an issue that's going on for 18 pages? Usain Bolt trains for 100m and 200m races, you don't see him going about demanding they change the rules of the marathon so he can compete on equal footing in that as well, do you now... |

Without the 1 week or 1 month races Path or Exile will just like any other ARPG, better for sure but it will loose the real feel of a game aimed for the really hardcore gamers.
I just can't understand why some people want to limit others how they should play the game. Always the same that scrubs that can't obtain what other can and whine like babies until the developer give in to the whining masses. I just hope that since it's F2P we won't see the worst whiners that say they should get everything that the hardcore players get since they payed for the same game. " let me shed some light on this, cause it seems most of you just dont get it. Races are not for casual players! Casual players will never win a race! yes it is sad that it is that way but thats how it is and will always be. So if your a casual player (like me, im semi-casual) then by all means please enjoy the game, but also use some commonsense and know what you can do and what you cant do in a game like this. and dont try to ruin it for others that you know to be more aggressive and hardcore.
Spoiler
P.S. Facebook has some great casual games on it

These races aren't made for casuals to win in, and never were intended as, they do however provide nice rewards if you try reach a set lvl, i never play to win the races, i enjoy doing them still, even as casual you can get some nice rewards in it, just don't expect or feel yourself entitled to win it.
Those who invest more time, deserve to win it, it's like any professional gaming, there needs to be a boarder of where the limits of casuals go, and that's fine, this game isn't made for the casuals. If you want to play casual games, play D3 or something, they ripped all the good stuff from D2 out of it. Ladders will never be for casuals, deal with it. I play games... shocked, i know.

It's a fairly simple matter to correct. Since straight ladder races will always be won by the player who is a no-lifer and plays 16+ hours a day there needs to be a time factor used to measure efficiency at levelling up and not just total time. So some one in a 1 week race who plays 25 hours has just as much of a chance as some one who played 50 hours of winning.
Let's see ... if some one played 50 hours and got to level 70 and some one played 10 hours and got to level 25 then there needs to be a formula that factors in time to calculate a score to rank the player. I know that at higher levels it takes more time to level up so it would not be a straight linier calculation but some kind of exponential formula or something like that could be employed so the race gives players who have a life and can't play as much an equal shot at winning. There would also need to be a minimum cut-off level that if you didn't play enough to level up to then you would be disqualified (can't have some one who plays too few hours in a week race winning it). I'm sure some one who understands the leveling numbers could work out a formula factoring in time. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

" It would be xp/minute. But it's not how ladders in ARPGs should work, sorry. |

A 'casual' race with a 6 hour daily playtime limit would do nothing to help casual players. Instead we would see the best hardcore racers play on three to four different accounts, using the first two to three to farm maps and currency to trade over to the last in order to give it an advantage on the later days of the race.
In the end, these players would still be putting in 18 to 24 hours a day to win, only they would be using three to four accounts instead of one. |
