Played D3:RoS since release till now, heres the results!

I swore to never give another dime to blizz and my collectors edition D3 box is sitting next to my pc as a reminder. If RoS was free I would have played it. Now, if GGG decides to make linking easier I will be happy to give more monies to them. Until then I am done with POE as well, except for two week charity races! Yay!

The only reason I can think of that you have more fun dropping legendaries is that they are the only drops in D3. There's no reason to care about anything else dropping so you play for an hour JUST to get that legendary. No wonder you're pumped when it lands! I prefer PoE where I still look at rares and get excited for gems/orbs and such.

No, it's because there is a reasonable chance that the item will have an actual impact for my character. You don't get that in PoE because the good items pretty much drop, you need to trade for them.

D3 = ARPG
PoE = Trading Simulator.

I know that this offends alot of people who are invested in PoE, but it's still true.

why you play POE then?

LOL - I made enough off RMAH to pay off 10-15 Xpacs to Blizzard. I didn't pay a dime!

I've been playing D3:RoS for a bit. I'm enjoying it, and I think there remains a lot that PoE and D3 can learn from one another.

A few observations on areas that I think D3 does well (there are many areas PoE does better):
- D3 gameplay is fluid, dynamic and interesting. You can't facetank as easily as in PoE at the same relatively high levels. You need to keep moving to survive.
- D3 has far fewer one shot mechanics than PoE
- D3's new bind on account loot mechanism has put an enormous dent into the RMT scourge and also promoted friendly teaming between new players. I have lost count of the number of times people have shared good items during a map session (you can only trade an item with the people you were grouped with when you found the item, and even then for 2 hours of game time only)

P.

The loss of character control in diablo 3 is pretty bad, it feels like some of the mechanics were made to replicate desync and rubber banding.

Vortex + walls create situations where you almost must absolutely face tank or you must grab a skill like teleport, there is no 'i will just avoid the damage'. Mix in a mechanic like poison pools or w/e and your character gets yanked in, trapped, and one shot, meaning you must choose an immunity or teleport skill.

One shot mechanics = mallet lords. There are several common mobs that can one shot you from off screen in d3, especially if you are pushing the limits of your gear.

There is way more cheesy mechanics in d3, I definitely think PoE has the more tactile feeling mechanics.

and bind on account arpg is just about the stupidest thing i have ever heard of.

1. I don't get your point.
2. Very rarely are you ever in a situation where you MUST facetank, the majority of situations can be avoided by timing and escape skills.
3. I've NEVER been one shot, I have been downed quickly but I can honestly say no one mob in Diablo 3 can use 1 attack and kill you.
4. PoE is a case of stand and click, the combat is probably the worst part of the game.

1. you run away, and are sucked back in, run again, second mob vortexes you back in, run again, third mob vortexes you back in. It is almost the same effect as rubber banding, except designed that way.

2. skills like ignore pain, soul walk (or w/e), diamond skin, 'when k/o'd you dont die but get 30% of your life back' passives, pretty much all monk skills, etc. are all in game for a reason, and provide complete immunity from one button press for a reason.

3. time to up your difficulty past normal for more than urn runs or w/e

4. i disagree, i enjoy the combat in PoE, but i also approach it different ways with different characters.

@ mr. P, i find it exceedingly dumb because I do play with a group of people, we just dont always play at the same time, so while I find awsome stuff for them, ultimately I must break it down for mats because I cant give it to them. Combatting RMT is noble, but not at the expense of the game. and I really dislike what they did to their loot system to make it work at all, one of my favorite parts of a game dungeon crawler is finding things that make me want to play a new character or something that is going to make one of my friends go nuts when I give it to them, not available in d3:ros.
Hey...is this thing on?

Doesn't offend me. You're just wrong. You drop upgrades in both games until you reach a point. Then the don't drop as often. That's how all gear based games work.

You prefer D3 for some unknown reason. You think it's because upgrades drop, but that's clearly not it. Think about it a bit and let me know why you really like it. There are lots of good reasons, but upgrades drop in both games, so that can't be it.

I heard they dumped the rmau on D3 (or changed or something) but do you know how laughable that statement is? I played D3 for a year, the game was trading and really thats it.

I guess if GGG white knights call your points bullshit it must be true, though not when it's the other way around right? And yes Sykotic, they are straw man arguments.. I mention ilevel 80 crown of thorns, he assumes I want gg gear from every mob.. Perhaps you should get your definitions correct before trying to insult me :)
You did not just mention crown of thorns, you complained that junk low level uniques drop from high level mobs in general. I just pointed out that its funny how you want more drops and every drop to be useful (also how you bitch about useless affixes),clearly showing disregard for balance (one of the points you complain about).

I quoted your entire point, there was no misrepresentation involved.
