Well, D3 has a lot of legendary items, but most are filler. They don't even have anything unique about most of them. Just a tad bit higher mainstat and vitality. In PoE a unique is a unique item. Shitty or not. It has something that makes it unique apart from a rare.
This one problem here would keep me away from D3 no matter what they ever do to fix it.
Trust me, it is ALOT more fun and interesting to find a legendary in D3 than in poe. Here the vast majority of what you find is low level crap. That they have some unique modifiers doesn't change that.
There are probably more build defining uniques in D3 than in PoE, and even more so if you include the sets.

LostForm, cool - we've had difference experiences.
Why do you think BoA is the "stupidest" thing you've ever heard of on an arpg?
The relative lack (note, I didn't say "absence") of item-based RMT, pay-to-win and improvement in in-game community spirit (pleasantly) surprised me in RoS.

When a legendary or a unique drop you do the following... You look at it to see how it compares to your gear.
In D3 if it's an upgrade you put it on. If it's not not you salvage it.
In PoE if it's an upgrade you put it on. If its not, you either vendor, sell, or keep for an alt.
The only reason I can think of that you have more fun dropping legendaries is that they are the only drops in D3. There's no reason to care about anything else dropping so you play for an hour JUST to get that legendary. No wonder you're pumped when it lands! I prefer PoE where I still look at rares and get excited for gems/orbs and such.

I've been playing D3:RoS for a bit. I'm enjoying it, and I think there remains a lot that PoE and D3 can learn from one another.
A few observations on areas that I think D3 does well (there are many areas PoE does better):
- D3 gameplay is fluid, dynamic and interesting. You can't facetank as easily as in PoE at the same relatively high levels. You need to keep moving to survive.
- D3 has far fewer one shot mechanics than PoE
- D3's new bind on account loot mechanism has put an enormous dent into the RMT scourge and also promoted friendly teaming between new players. I have lost count of the number of times people have shared good items during a map session (you can only trade an item with the people you were grouped with when you found the item, and even then for 2 hours of game time only)
P.
The loss of character control in diablo 3 is pretty bad, it feels like some of the mechanics were made to replicate desync and rubber banding.
Vortex + walls create situations where you almost must absolutely face tank or you must grab a skill like teleport, there is no 'i will just avoid the damage'. Mix in a mechanic like poison pools or w/e and your character gets yanked in, trapped, and one shot, meaning you must choose an immunity or teleport skill.
One shot mechanics = mallet lords. There are several common mobs that can one shot you from off screen in d3, especially if you are pushing the limits of your gear.
There is way more cheesy mechanics in d3, I definitely think PoE has the more tactile feeling mechanics.
and bind on account arpg is just about the stupidest thing i have ever heard of.
1. I don't get your point.
2. Very rarely are you ever in a situation where you MUST facetank, the majority of situations can be avoided by timing and escape skills.
3. I've NEVER been one shot, I have been downed quickly but I can honestly say no one mob in Diablo 3 can use 1 attack and kill you.
4. PoE is a case of stand and click, the combat is probably the worst part of the game.

That's not close to being accurate. EDIT: LOL
In my view, PoE is a superior game in the vast, vast majority of ways. Doesn't mean RoS doesn't have some aspects which are worth looking to for ideas.
Whatever, can't believe I contributed to a D3 commentary thread after years of trying successfully to avoid them. Shame on me.

No, it's because there is a reasonable chance that the item will have an actual impact for my character. You don't get that in PoE because the good items pretty much drop, you need to trade for them.
D3 = ARPG
PoE = Trading Simulator.
I know that this offends alot of people who are invested in PoE, but it's still true.

Experience at what, mind numbing WoW? D3 is mind-numbing WoW-lite for casuals.
This is just my opinion. If you like these games, enjoy, have fun.
