This game is GOOD.
Instanced loot BREAKS the game in HUGE ways.
Spoiler

Loot is calculated by last hit, and with support gems, sometimes even which spell killed each mob.
Lets say I have 500% rarity and 200% quantity.
If I last hit a mob and it drops a Unique and 4 yellows and 20 blues BECAUSE of my build that I specifically built to be more profitable. I tell you right now I'll be taking whatever the hell I want.

Instanced loot is the difference between the person with the lowest latency getting all of the good gear and everyone who contributed getting a cut. How do you expect someone to barter if the gear they can sell/currency they can pick up is taken instantly by someone with a better connection?

And I ask you how would you be able to kill any mob with all +rarity and +quantity gear without the people not set up that way that are actually able to tank/deal decent damage. The point being that someone with just +rarity and +quantity is pretty much just a leecher and doesn't deserve 95% of the loot. Its against the concept of a team player.

Here take this box of tissue. No crying in this house so you can have them.

Nice response, thanks for bringing something to the table besides arrogance.

I was hoping you are just kidding..I see you are not..what you want to talk about? If someone is telling me "it's better to have less players BECAUSE THEY WILL PAY MORE" ... There is nothing I can add.. you have clue about this issue as much as my dead grandmother about golf my friend..
To the OP: Why would FFA looting stop you from supporting a game that you claim to like to play even if you have to play it solo? Don't get me wrong, I think the timer system GGG games currently has in place is the most idiotic decision they have made in this game. To me,it would make more sense if the loot was either fully FFA, so no one felt entitled to anything dropped or character identified based on who killed what or some such system. No one is ever going to think that loot distribution in a PUG is fair. If the loot distribution system is unfair in a person's mind then they have two options, to either not play at all or to play solo. If you make the decision to play solo and still enjoy the game, how can you justify not supporting the developers of a game that you enjoy playing?
The Templar kills for Faith - The Shadow kills for Money - The Duelist kills for Fame -
The Marauder kills for Pride - The Ranger kills for Survival - The Scion kills for Attention (Emo much?) ...
and the witch...
She kills for Revenge ... tbc

Easy, Power Siphon (with its Culling Strike) and then stack rarity and quantity, you'll get every last hit almost. Not only that, if you get the passive node that shares your 250% crit chance with everyone in your party you are still helping. Not only that at level 44 I do around 900~ DPS with Power Siphon.
Grouping.. I often do not enjoy it at all.

I do it anyway though, because I do find some cool people that I put on my friends list that actually work well with other people and try to group with them again in the future.

You see, I shouldn't have to play with labels always on to see items the instant they drop, but if I want to get any loot, I do. I also shouldn't have to feel like in dangerous combat situations I have to keep playing my role meanwhile some jerk is just running up to my drops with my name on them and waiting for the timer to run out INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY PLAYING and being a group.

What this tends to do is mean that groups are often not groups anyway. And gives credence to the feeling that even if they changed the game to only allow single player, not much would change.

With all that said we must still remember that the game itself is excellent. Though tough, I've found a few people I try to group up with on a regular basis to counteract this. I dont even have a problem with timers so much as they're too short and count down while you're still fighting trying to take part in the group.

We should also remember that this game, while a 'soft release' is still considered officially to be in beta, and that MANY changes will come. While they loot system as is may never be removed or totally changed, if the player base is truly unhappy with it GGG will probably look at ways of implementing changes to the system without sacrificing their vision.. just as they have been doing with every other facet of the game.
best argument = d2 was the most popular multiplayer for YEARS ans has ffa , now stfu and die

I also find the "slowing down" the game argument hilarious. The only thing you can do to guarantee you get something you need is to loot everything, otherwise you will lose it to someone else. In a game where you can't un-do your decisions easily, with all this emphasis on thinking through pretty much permanent passive-tree decisions, it doesn't make sense to make gear split-second decisions.

If you cannont understand how 5 people standing over and object waiting for a bar to count down slows game pace there is really nothing else to say to you. You clearly have no cognitive ability and to try to convince you of one thing or another would be a fools task.

And there you are wrong ninjaboy. If you cant understand that with increased loot timers, no people would be standing over items because they know the one item was intended for will have time to pick it up, instead they will fight monsters as they should.
In SP there are no NPCs that I can extort currency/good items for a lowball price, so PoE is definitely MP.
I don't see how anyone can claim that this game will survive if the 75% "casual" audience slowly goes away. They might have initial funding, but that will eventually run out, and since there is no cost of entry and no cost for content, long-term success relies on the viability of the shop. I don't see any reason for anyone playing solo to buy anything from the shop, and another portion of people that play in a group will just get tired of losing loot to lower latency.
