My problem with poe.xyz and why do I think it fucked the economy

the same thing happens in trade chat. Except it's even worse because it's not just items but currency values that shift when a group of people spam lower or higher #'s for several days and people believe it to be the new number. Also, the annoying spam making it unreadable.
No matter what, with trading there will be manipulation. At least poe.xyz is off screen and doesn't involve currency rates. Pay what you think you can part with. Although I do understand (and agree) it's hard to know what the right amount is sometimes. Can't sit around and watch the market every hour every day. Sometimes you catch it after it's been manipulated. +1million for a SFL with modified drops for balance and using this 'currency' for its actual programmed use of crafting. I think the main problem is not "trading", but "feeling cheated".
Both buyer and seller think they have to fight for the price, which makes trading so ugly. --- And of course the skyrocketing of prices is crazy. Just check 1h weapons on poe.xyz.is... DpS <200 1 chaos DpS <250 5 chaos DpS <300 1 ex DpS <350 15 ex DpS >400 50+ ex DpS >500 200+ ex (or something like that) I do understand that those top-end weapons are very, very rare, crafted with lots and lots of eternals/exalteds etc, and that their price is just "a mirror of their rarity". I also know I dont need a 500+ DpS weapon. But still... this is crazy! gr00grams got the point. 1.5 months of domination , mapping with ~100 iir ( the so called endgame for items hunting), best items obtained

my ek weapon, a tabula rasa and a ar/es shield sold for 2 ex 2 weeks farming piety ~40 iiq ~200 iir for alterations and chaos recipe (best drops,1 exalted, 2X searing touch sold for 30 chaos each but nothing else, only 1-2 chaos items), I bought almost every exalted 35:1 (farm orbs to buy other orbs....)

My biggest problem with XYZ is that I need a site like XYZ in the first place.
I don't give two shits about the economy in POE; I worry about it enough in RL. I'd just like to play the game. Implement an AH and save me time and human interaction kthx. Shop closed until further notice. Check out my Dominus musical tribute instead:

This happens in EVERY GAME man... deal with it.
There is always this "nice guy" who makes a price guide or a buy/sell tool that help a lot of players, but thinking they won't take advantage of that is pretty naive. Ok... they may "manipulate prices" but let them be. If there was no poe xyz at all it would be a lot worse. Just imagine yourself browsing hundreds of pages just to find a single item you want? Just do what that first guy replied to you... you pay what you think it is worth, just because everyone is selling for 10 exa doesn't mean it is 10 exa worth. |
