My problem with poe.xyz and why do I think it fucked the economy

... This is the best way to buy and sell items at the moment but a tool of market manipulation too... Look for example what happened to thief torment ring...from 3-4 EX decent rolls to 7-10 EX and more....
Why I think that ? The b/o prices for some items are just the prices that THOSE items don`t SELL FOR and people still believe that those are the fair prices for the items.The REAL PRICE of items is the price that the BUYER IS WILLING TO PAY ! How to manipulate market using poe.xyz ? Say to your friends/Guild( meaning that you have a lot of friends/guildies playing poe.xyz) with soul takers that they use and don`t want to sell to post them on poe.xyz for 80 EX.Wait one month , meanwhile the rest sells for 40-50 ... Some noob drops a Soul taker , checks poe.xyz ... "Oh wow , I`ll get 80 EX for this , better post it " ... he posts it lets say at 70 EX...the next noobs sees this...Same thing happens. The same thing happened on the D3 AH. Nothing new here, people want to get more out of everything so they overprice. 10 guys post something at an overprice, soon everyone posts it at the same price because they think the item actually sells for that much.
People dont want to barter either which this trading system should have been like. Fact is, everyone wants to replicate real life economics in a video game which just does not work so well. At least i can still barter whenever i want, its not that hard. |
