My problem with poe.xyz and why do I think it fucked the economy
" THIS is sad BUT true I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty, and witty and gay, And I pity Any girl who isn’t me today!
" That's not even an exaggeration. Before xyz, the only people that could trade efficiently were popular streamers. |

" Yep, thats the main idea people dont get. (: Youu see poe, you check it doesnt sell for that b/o, then you put your item with lower b/o, and if doesnt sell for some time and if someone else or you yourself see it,there will be a new, lower b/o for that kind of item. And this goes on untill it's found its real price=desired amount to be paid by buyers. Of course there are lot of angles to consider, but its the idea:O Its not really as easy as you think to manipulate the market, one must dominate/have acces to '' a lot of'' items of that kind. You see big guys shops, they have everthing powerful, all kind of xx legandaries, yet with high B/O prices, which stands there for weeks, cause there will %99 of the time be someone to undercut it, tho they wait for that %1 of the time for someone desperate and reach to buy, which happens eventually, but has in short doesnt really have a big much of an impact in the market. Soo, its all about supply/demand.If you have the really highest percantage of the Supply available, you can force people to buy it, so dominate the market. But if not, there will always be people who undercut each other, untill the price reaches a point where it doesnt take so long to sell, nor too quick.Which is determined by demand. Anyway those are my thougts late night, I might have talked stupi, eh have fun Last edited by agonyknight#4301 on Feb 8, 2014, 7:46:08 PM

Economy can be controlled through several roads:
Poe.xyz.us Buyouts. Forum selling threads Chat spam As i said on the past, flippers flip each others, all of them are making the prices rise and fall for different customers. " Selling logs: /view-thread/782113(very high speed)

I found, and bought, my Thief's torment on XYZ for 3 ex. You have to check several times throughout the day. You are fairly new, you can't imagine what it was like before xyz. In early open beta almost any 5L cost at least an ex. Now they are a couple chaos for many. Anarchy/Onslaught T shirt
Domination/Nemesis T shirt Tempest/War Bands T shirt |

Many people put high buyouts sometimes because they don't really want to sell right away.
It's always been this way. So just because there is some high value as b/o doesn't mean most if any people consider that true market value. Poe xyz has been a blessing to those without Soul Takers and Kaoms to flip or whatever in chat. And currency flipping isn't done there it's done in chat. Check chat one day and look at the ridiculous gear there you can buy for 10x the price you can find in poe xyz. Might take a little more time tracking down the seller but most likely, get a much better deal. Chris even mentioned it in the interview he said "Oh, those forum scrapers?" Something like that. Sort of a downplay but didn't say anything wrong with it. Last edited by raziekeljr#3483 on Feb 8, 2014, 8:29:16 PM

" Using that example, I could sell that item very fast for 1-2.5ex or wait a bit to sell it for 2.5-3.5 ex? Am I the only one who thinks flippers are useful? I don't have to wait till a "real" buyer shows up if I need a few exalts quickly. And buyers profit too. It is likely that flippers are online more often than me so that a buyer has a better chance to get that item. Last edited by Sa_Re#3411 on Feb 8, 2014, 8:38:41 PM

" Life gets much more relaxing once you accept that most people aren't as smart as they think, including oneself. :) Asking for price checks in the game is pretty annoying for others, and besides, it usually gives you the opinion of one player or two. Being over level 80 means nothing. I'm that, with more than one character, and I couldn't estimate the value of a rare item. I like buyouts. I only buy something that has a BO, and the few things I sell (mostly gems) all have BOs, too. I have no interest in "haggling" or researching or pestering other people. What I want is an AH, but since we can't have that due to people's irrational D3 anxiety, BOs are the next best thing. Quite a few others seem to feel that way too.

Single items can be manipulated in the short run, only that. Overall price level cannot be inflated this way, if items were more expensive overall than they were worth, it would mean people couldn't buy as many as they should according to supply/demand, which means the supply would rise until eventually pushing down prices.
I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

Like in life, you just have to know what your buying and its value.
You will also see people TRY to sell things based on what others are asking for the same item, nothing new. |
