My problem with poe.xyz and why do I think it fucked the economy

Gee fking wizzz....If I have something to sell, for example, and poe.xyz shows that people are asking 20 exalts for it that means I can probably trade it for 15.

If I would take the same item to the spam chats I get offered 10ex from fking Dolphins looking to flip it to make a few exalts.

The best offers/trades I have got is from the B/S/T forums (small items trade). Nuff said...the best way to trade.

Nah, let me explain the real issue.

First off, poe.xyz.is is easily manipulated. The first thing youre going to ask me is, "How is it manipulated", its quite simple.

You dont even need to sell an item to influence the going rate of current prices.

If you put an item up with a buyout, you can simply trade it to an alternate account or even temporarily to a friend, it will pop up as "Sold".

Obviously you can see the impact of this and how people will interpret this. You could list items for far less than what theyre worth and "Sell them", to influence the price. Thats how its easily manipulated.

Make a bunch of accounts and do this, you can make it look like the item is legitimately rising or dropping in price and people will follow suit.

This is why i HIGHLY recommend not using this website to try and price items.

but I just came in to say that any time someone calls baldurs gate series or fallout (the first two) an ARPG game, a kitten dies. in each town. so I came in here because of kittens dying. please dont call these magnificent single player RPGs...ARPGs.

If noone sells an item below a certain price and still people buy that item because they want it so desperately, the price is justified.

If an item is really overpriced, you should be able to eventually get it for a fair price. If you don't, your definition of a "fair price" is just wrong.

What you're actually complaining about here, is that noobs don't sell their items to you for much less than other players are willing to pay.

poe.xyz doesn't destroy the economy, it just makes it easier for noobs to not get scammed and harder for you to scam noobs!

After i bought a 5L Lioneyes ingame for 7,5ex, i wrote the guy who wanna sell me his lioneye with 20dps more for 5ex more. He didnt say 1 word.

Poe.xyz is pure scam!!!! never buy from ppl there. never hear in tradechat to ppl who talk about this crap site.

other story 1 dude want to sell me a 77Map for 2.5ex in domination, "that are the prices on poe.xyz". I laughed hard about him bought a shipyard for 1ex,5Chaos and send it to him. he also didnt say 1 fuckin word.

Example: A 20 ex b/o item is listed as sold, legit or not. That does not mean it was sold for 20 ex.

That's not even an exaggeration. Before xyz, the only people that could trade efficiently were popular streamers.

Before xyz, I never traded... ever. Even with xyz, I only buy, never sell. Having to post items in forum threads, go thru the hassle of making myself appear online when not playing a character that is on the ladder; it's all to archaic and annoying to bother.

You are doing it wrong. Or maybe you are doing it right by not being a noob and recognizing overpriced garbage for what it is. xyz is a tool to find what you want at a price you are willing to pay.

When I want something, I search xyz to see what's available. Then I evaluate stat ranges and min/max buyouts on both the high and low end of the spectrum. Next I watch trade chat spam to see what people in the game are asking/offering for the item. From this, I determine what I'm willing to pay. Sometimes it's cheaper in-game. Sometimes it's cheaper on xyz. Sometimes the cheapest I see available is what I consider to be... still BS overpriced, and I don't partake and keep looking. People overpricing their crap is not exclusive to xyz. So don't blame the tool.

So the economy would be "healthier" wihtout poe.xyz? Yah. And 80 percent of the population would just refuse to trade because the current system (hell, the future system planned) set in place by GGG sucks ass. No thanks. I'll take "market manipulation" anyday. If I seee something I want to buy and the price is good FOR ME, I'll buy it. I don't need the lowest price possible, it's all about what I'm willing to pay.
