Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

You are never guaranteed to get another map, just as you are never guaranteed an item after crafting.

Maps, however, are items, and you can buy them from other players. Complaining about maps is no different than complaining about items.

So, you're saying leveling process is the same as gear? It's a matter of convenience that maps are trade-able items in this game, yet they have nothing else in common with gear.

This is also the first game where you have to be lucky in order to progress (more efficiently) even though you can handle the harder content, and if you're not lucky (most of the time) you either have to play lower level maps in order to try to get lucky to gain again the higher content.
Or, you can buy harder monsters.
Brilliant system, it disgusts me every time I think of it.

And now you're saying that is the same as gear?
Please, tell me again that it's the same thing so I won't ever reply to your posts in the future.

You can still level up in docks or catacombs, even at level 98. You still get 2% of the experience. So it is EXACTLY the same thing as wanting good drops that you don't technically need. You don't technically NEED maps to progress, you just want them, because it is far more efficient. Just like better gear is more efficient.

2% in docks on level 98? When you achieve that, I'll give you 2 stacks of the precious Exalted Orbs, mark my words.

What's your definition of a better gear?

You can efficiently clear 76-77 maps with 10 ex gear tops.
But, in order to play maps you have to invest constantly, in 95+ level, if one plays only 77-78 maps, it would cost 50+ ex for sure (for a large majority of players), if one only hosts maps.
It would be slightly less if one constantly pays fees in public parties, but playing in public parties restricts ones "freedom".

Can you now see the difference, should I draw more?
He means 2% of the numerical experience instead of 100% you would without penalty, not 2% of your exp bar.

Oh.

Nevertheless, post still stands.
I can easily get multiple uniques every hour and I neither play a lot nor have a lot of mf. 100% of my mf comes from this ammy:
So much entitlement itt.

Diablo 2 learned this lesson a decade ago, that the game just isn't as fun or good as it could be if you don't get good items.

You did not get items like Griffon's and Death's Web in a single play through. If you are lucky, Wizardspike and Shako were fairly easy to get.

I'm constantly boggled whenever people attempt to make comparisons to D2. Have any of you ACTUALLY played D2? The drop rates on higher TC's were ridiculous and if the game were released today, all you whiners would still be complaining about how your entitlement demands the drop rates be changed so you can easily get a Griffon's Eye on every sorc you create.

The problem here isn't the game, but how perceptions have changed over the last 15 years.
Finished reading 30 pages of a thread.

Didn't get a unique.

This is how I played D2: Solo, offline. I installed that add-on thingy that gave you a gazillion stash tabs. I started off with a zealot on /players 8, all the way through normal and nightmare, then /players 5 or 3 in hell. Perfect balance between difficulty and drops.
Somewhere during hell I started to make other chars depending on the drops I got with my zealot.
When I finished, my zealot was in the late 80s, and I usually had 3-5 other chars somewhere between lv50 and lv70. Took me about 8-10 weeks.
Then I quit and the next time I played I deleted all my chars and the stash and started fresh.
Did that about 4-5 times.

Never, ever did I get the feeling that the droprates were bad. I usually had every single low to midlevel set complete, some good pieces of the higher ones, tons of uniques of all kinds, tons of low to midlevel runes and sometimes the higher ones and tons of all the rest, like charms and gems, that you could get in D2.

What I usually didn't have, was the ultra-rare stuff. Perfect charms, perfect high-end uniques, etc. But that didn't bother me. There was so much to do with all the other stuff that it really didn't matter.

But I know you don't care. Talking about "all you whiners" is telling enough.
