Get rid of 1 Week Races

Easy way to solve all the health problems related to longer races resumes into one system:

FATIQUE (STAMINA) SYSTEM

Simply determine how many hours/day should be the maximum allowed, but enabling stacking of these hours so groups can do 'the push' and other stuff.

I think the best idea is to make races hourbased.
Something like this: 100 hour race and the players have 1 month time.(~3h/day)

In my opinion racing should not be about who can sleep the less but who plays >the most efficient way<

Nobody forces you to participate in races....
Imo people shouldn't ask to remove races, instead ask for alternatives and suggest formats that suit you better.

I don't particularly like any of the formats for instance, but I have played in the one week races because they suit my preferences best. I don't consider these races ideal (I'd ideally want fixed schedule longer term races), but I wouldn't want them removed, just other options.

I agree completely.

And especially with private leagues starting up at some point, I'm sure everyone will be able to find a race/event format that suits them.

18 hour game days are still a bit over the top. I would say anywhere in between 8-12 hours at the most play limit per day.

(havent read all postings yet, but as a quick shot:)

The problem is, that limiting the per-day amount to a 'healthy' amount introduce the unfair 'issue', that people who can use this full amount on every weekday had an huge advantage to those who could use the weekend for longer sessions to catch up.

Overall I disagree with taking the 1 week out. It's a very good way to see what classes and builds need to be nerfed. Also if someone wants to play the most then why punish them?

Yes we need/want such kind of races too, that allows spread of progression - not only for checking builds for nerfs, but also for our own enjoyment - as a bit different kind of ladder, compared to default league. (for me, it may be the most playable kind of - known types of - races, 1 hour is pointless, 3+ hours mostly much too stressy, and 2 hours as 'golden' middle very hard to make perfect enough...)

Its not easy to find a viable solution to prevent 24/7 playstyle (unhealthy for single and unfair for shared accounts), that dont introduces issues for other aspects. IMHO, the best thing we can hope for, is that time leads to less interest in such abusive playstyle: imagine a weekly race every 10 days - do 'they' really can/want to proceed the same excessive playing for a year or even more?

Wouldnt this just force people to firstly wait an see how the others do, and then (late) try to catch up in a 'short run'? (like formerly used to happen in the Formel 1 qualifying)

A player that had "used" his time early on could only wait and see and hope noone does better... or he can try again with another char if he's able to spend the time once again, or even more chars...? So the best (single-char) tactics would be to do your 80...90 hours and then wait and try to use the remaining time to add as much XP as possible right before the deadline.

Beside all that, a simple fact just as relation: my most played char after 14 month, now reports a played time of ~120 hours at all... ^^

Come on guys.

It's obvious that one week races are way too long.

But there are people who seem to live in front of the computer, and there's got to be something for these guys too.

This is a nice idea (although a month is way too long).

It's easy. Give the whiners a one week league which caps the amount of time played at let's say 3 hours a day max, disable grouping and trading and they have nothing to complain about.

I'd love something like this actually. Increase the max to 4 hours/day and it suits me perfectly. :)
Sometimes I play default softcore for two days straight, and I'm not the only one. It's a health hazzard for me, like seriously. And oh sweet Jesus I can feel the cold deaths grasp on my throat, but i JUST. CAN'T. STOP. PLAYING.

Not my fault, it's the devs, darn them, they made such a good freaking game and made it available ALL the time. The nerve!

So why does OP only care about people particapating in 1 week races? Why no love for us default softcore/hardcore players while we sit day in and day out, our life draining away into bleak nothingness, eyes half closed, halucinating and on a death bed, but still clicking, still clicking... Why can't we limit softcore too?! Lives are at stake people! LIVES ARE AT STAKE!

Ahhh, this feels better. Phew.

EDIT: Since you don't care about competition I must say that the selective altruism really ticks me off.
