Hi GGG,Is the Singapore gateway removed?

A much appreciated reply from Chris. I have no qualms with my purchased supporter packs now and look forward to the next wave of supporter packs to throw my cash at *hint hint*.

Definitely used the kindest and most politically correct way describing the situation on hand.

This is my take on the situation:

A majority of Garena users tend to fall within the early teens to late teens age range, which I feel skews significantly younger than the actual playerbase of the official PoE. The aforementioned Garena users mainly source for their game information through Facebook or word of mouth (amongst schoolmates, in person) as opposed to dedicated gaming forums.

As such, a casual mention of Path of Exile amongst Garena users would prompt them to google the game out and unknowingly stumble upon the official PoE (top search result displayed) instead of Garena PoE. What happens next? Garena user downloads official PoE client, gets frustrated over being on the wrong client from their Garena friends and GGG/Garena alike lets slip this window of opportunity to capture the prospective player.

Maybe www.pathofexile.com can lead to a splash page on a first-time visit that prompts the visitor to select their region:

PoE International "Click here" | PoE Garena Singapore "Click here"

This may be quite the hefty implementation but can become increasingly useful as GGG starts closing deals with various regional distributors whilst maintaining a worldwide version of their own.

Curious about this statement as i was under the impression that Garena had its own servers. The way you are talking makes it sound like this is not the case. It should not be an issue for people using Garena as it is in fact a seperate server. Only people logging into your own POE original server should have the option for Singapore ?

Or if in fact this is not the case and Garena shares your server then when will character transfer be offered ?

Garena does in fact run its own server instance separate from GGG's PoE client. As mentioned in my interpretation, it is more of how Garena users are likely to google "Path of Exile" and download the first thing they see, ending up on an unintended client.

Some Garena people were confused, so lets remove the server from the list. Really? I have to wonder how GGG comes up with these "fixes". You guys throw a dart a bunch of half-baked ideas or what?

Put the server back on the list and stop penalizing everybody else for the actions of a few.

How is a Singaporean being able to play on the Singapore server "an unintended client"? Chris' explanation raises more questions than answers, imo. "Appropriate servers"? So, if we're playing on the Singapore server, GGG is thinking we're inappropriate guests? We should be on Garena? Unless you're Japanese (for some reason.)

Singapore server will be offline within six months. They're just not making enough money off it.

Hi Chris, did you ever thought about the New Players from "Western Australia/Japan"..? How about Malaysians, Ph, Vn, Thais, etc etc..? How are they going to find the Hidden Doorway? Why not rename it to a name that represent us as a SEA Region. Why hide it?

Why must we use the backdoor.. y can't we use the front door? I mean we do pay the same amt of money, and we do work as hard as the USA/EU to earn our bucks. So why do we have to use the Secret Gateway :)) What make this group of us so "special"..?

its in their interest that singapore server be unplugged and unless garena screws up really bad it is 99.9% that the singapore server will go down in time.

A few people download the wrong client so you completely remove the gateway from from the drop down menu? That is absurd.
