Hi GGG,Is the Singapore gateway removed?
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/581902
Garena will publish Path of Exile in Southeast Asia " Technically still correct :/ Although GGG is quickly sliding down this slippery slope :( Will the gateway be removed soon? If GGG decides to cut corners, will the Singapore gateway be maintained, since its redundant now? Tsk, tsk GGG, when I go back to live with family back in SEA for holidays etc, I expect to be able to group with my guild and play on the worldwide servers. This is upsetting to see. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

That is messed up. GGG needs to be upfront that they do in fact have a Singapore gateway. Garena is totally redundant and I am not happy that they have a localization deal to begin with.
I am an American expat living in Singapore and I don't want to be forced to only play with SEA players sometime down the line if GGG takes a step further and makes us transfer over... Keep PoE2 Difficult.

Garena started out as a platform that actively encourages piracy. Its like tunngle - It acts like a VPN to let lan-cracked games play with each other. Their forum, before the great purge and transitioning into a messenger based service due to retailing League of Legends, are the greatest site to visit to find detailed guide and links to download pirated games and play them through their client. L4D, Warcraft III, CS 1.6, you name it, it's there.
Let me get this straight - there is NO good re-distributors in SEA. Cherry Credits price their micro transactions 3 to 4 times the price of foreign server's equivalent, justifying themselves by saying Singaporean are developed and have a much, much stronger spending power. Asiasoft is a all around money grubber that heavily modifies the game they redistributes in a way that Microtrans are completely neccessary and needed to play their games. But even so - these two company still have a reason behind their action - they are simply business. And they are milking from players who are willing to pay them. This company is built, from the ground up, to screw everyone over. Their "shells", their cash currency, is hilariously overpriced for local consumer. Their service doesn't even cost them money, yet its a ad-ridden piece of malware that god knows makes them how much millions a year. Before even leaving beta, Garena have launched a pet that is a red humanoid, their mascot. Its immersion breaking and ruins the overall theme of the crafted world. (Like Razer's footsteps.) I refuse, and never will support Garena. Never have once in my life i am actually happy to pay for Microtrans. I don't regret supporting GGG at all because they've shown they care. Are you trying to phase us out? It is a common practice for re-distributors in SEA to request IP blocks for their counterpart in oversea to force population into their service...And if this is your response, GGG, to treat me, a SEA customer like some discriminated, third-tier, chopped liver consumer, i am very, very disappointed. (But hey. I am just ONE(1) customer, right? Why possible impact i could bring to your game and business?) I hope i get at least an official declaration. If you want me to leave, i will. I'd rather quit Path of Exile for good than playing on Garena's PoE. Last edited by AratemusoAkiyo#7400 on Nov 21, 2013, 3:04:32 PM

Any official updates on this issue?

People need to realize that matters like these are out of GGG's control. Many east asian countries require game companies to partner with a local publisher by law. GGG has hired Garena because they are required by law and not necessarily because they want to. You want a GGG server in your east asian country? Go petition your government to change their laws. Complaining here accomplishes nothing.

" I would like the source of your information regarding the law and such, and without sarcasm, please tell me why Singapore Gateway have been operating for such a long period without any C&D letter from said government? |

" Chris has given South Korea and China as specific examples of nations with such laws. Though I'm unsure which SE Asian countries have similar laws. I'm guessing GGG was able to run a Singapore gateway because PoE wasn't published by a local company. Now there is, things have to change. Also, hiding Singapore gateway is probably part of the contract with Garena. Edit: spelling. IGN: MinusFour/Teeda Last edited by minus4#0990 on Nov 21, 2013, 6:56:15 PM

" China and South Korea are hardly SEA, their is still many other people from SEA countries who enjoys playing POE, such as Malaysia, Philippine, Thai, Taiwan etc. These country don't have such laws that ban foreign game companies. I am ok if GGG wants to sell their right of publishing POE in SEA to Garena, but you should put it in the patch note. Simply vanishing the Singapore server and offer no explanations is demeaning. You can just tell us and we will be gone in no time. |

" They're not in SE Asia, I never said they were. And Taiwan is not a part of SE Asia either, it's in East Asia. IGN: MinusFour/Teeda

Very disappointed with this. I, one of your most vocal supporters, do not appreciate being treated like some third-world trash.
The move to choose Garena was stupid and frankly insulting to every single South East-Asian player. My stance on the announcement has not changed, and with this I've really been discouraged from supporting any further - but hey? You got my $1270 already right. No big deal. This was the first and only game which I ever dared to pledge this much money. Now I question if it was ever a smart move to begin with. " And where are you getting this information? You don't need to work with a local company to establish a base here in Malaysia nor in Singapore. Singapore openly welcomes foreign investment and so does Malaysia. Don't spread misinformation when you neither live in the country(ies) nor know anything about our trade laws. Last edited by Lyralei#5969 on Nov 21, 2013, 10:54:07 PM
