1200 fusings, no 6 link
" actually its the people adding any value to 6L's who are wrong. its an upgrade that will be commonly available early in the open beta because sheer numbers will guarantee a flood of them. its stupid to try and make them the end game goal. |

" That is kind of the point. 6ls will lose value, yes, however, 6ls with perfect stats of the highest possible tier? Likely to be much scarcer. Another factor missing in your "analysis" (If I would be allowed to tentatively call it that) is that the "Playerbase" will be further fragmented upon release, due to multiple new leagues being made, with a multitude of different rules. Add upon that the fact that "Races" and "Ladders" will also continue. Your statements and assumptions make sense, if you say this game is directly D2, with only what, one specific example of a "league"? The devs have stated that they know it is unavoidable for default not to become a wonderful playhouse of godlike items, the point is making it balanced around the start, so as to give a good enough feeling for the smaller leagues and/or races/ladders that will likely be a rather large part of the playerbase. We are talking about a rather simple situation, and know it or not, you supported what I and others have been saying, 6ls are easy and will become plentiful enough, however due to the market mobility of orbs and such, their value in the beginning relative to orbs will be very pertinent, as a large snowball factor in wealth is a rather big issue, in this game specifically. |

" if your using D2 as the norm so to speak. then you are forgetting they added ladder runs to deflect the amounting of extremely rare's. which is exactly what you say will deflect it here. BUT! this game is depending on a RNG setup for a end game goal. 6L's the stats being perfect is part of all the other orbs use and MUCH MUCH easier to attain as the game stands so taking a less than perfect 6L and altering its stats to perfection is far simpler than taking a perfect piece and adding 6L. this is a big problem since perfect stats is actually what makes something worth trading. |

Indeed, however, 6ls and perfect stats are different, depending on the milestone and the build. The game itself definitelhy has a lifespan, under which it is balanced, economy wise, however at the same time, that is why we will likely not only have ladders, but races, multitudes of leagues and likely things GGG has not yet revealed yet. In the end, you are arguing it is not balanced around release, when we are not even close to release, so to speak. Open beta will of course, due to the influx, reveal a whole slew of new problems, create even worse and more, and provide critical data.
Still, using your arguement, there is utterly no reason to buy or do anything, because waiting x amount of time, will make everything useless. In the end, all the economy is, is buying and selling time. Another pertinent point to raise is that default will likely become the "legacy", so to speak, server of release. A place where all toons that are finished with races or ladders will be dumped. |

" \ 6L's are currently by far harder to attain than perfect stats. this should be the reverse if they plan to have any kind of longevity. 6L using simple RNG to rarefy is a numbers game which popularity defeats quickly. if the game languishes in obscurity it'll work. if it gets any kind of popularity even only at first then 6L's will flood the market from day 1 and lose any value pretty much overnight. doesn't matter if they have a ladder race if its a primary attractor the population will be there. and so will the numbers to defeat the RNG of 6L's |

Well of course there's more 6ls than perfect roll gear. Once someone spends 50-100 chaos and find something that's over 75% of what they want they settle. They've wasted a bunch of orbs and what do they gain from that extra 25% besides the possibility of spending much more than they already have?
With a 6l there's one option. If you are rolling a 6l chances are you have a 5l. So why stop at 5l ever? I doubt I'll use 1.5k alchs to find the perfect item as I'd settle for less much sooner but 6l is an all or nothing situation, perfect rolls aren't. there is no logical reason behind the publicly available amount of very rare items like 6 linked ones to grow potentionally as the player base rises in open beta.
yes, the overal number of these items will grow. but, my guess is, the availability will not rise as players who got these items will rather use it themselves or start a new char using this item later than sell it on the market. though the current situation will not change much. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

The exception being white 6L drops that don't fit your build. My guess is they are more appealing to hold onto for a future toon, than they would be to trade away for uber gear for your current toon.

Just to add a little flaver to this nice debate:
About two hours ago I logged on to play a bit, and a guy links a 6L chest in the chat. 6 fussings, to make a 6 link for him. I'm not sure he really understood how lucky he was, and how many would love like to get thier hands on that item. Anyway, I think that 6L's should be as rare as possible, without being impossible to get. They are the top items, and should be reserved for the top players. I'm not a top player, and I dont think I'll ever get a 6L, and I'm totally ok with that. And I really dont like the thought about making a "secure" way to get a 6L, not even is it is insanly expensive. Dont mess with the fact that this is a RNG basedgame... WIP: BM Dualist using bow. |

" First you must define "Perfect" stats. I have yet to see any "Perfect, GG" rolls. Then again, you must take into consideration that the build diversity in this game will make "GG" rolls much more diverse. Not all builds will need the exact same stats for a GG roll. My example is almost perfect for this, my Shadow uses an ES helm, however he uses it as an EB toon, so I needed HP on it, I proceeded to roll a dual resist 70 hp 716 ES helm with dual resists. I believe it is still the "Best" ES helm roll on the server, due to 2 high resists to boot. However, another player, say a CI user, that helm would be no where near as GG for them as it was me. I'm not entirely sure how to articulate it any differently etc, but my above statement illustrates the crude point. |
