Steam Os And POE

Steam is ok,i own a lot of games.

HOWEVER.

It doesnt work well with online games. If steam server is down, even if your online game is safe and sound,it goes down also.Well for steam cloud games at least.Which is a terrible, terrible thing.

Thus said,i wouldnt mind POE on steam, but i would mind if it connects to steam servers for some reason, for cloud saves...
Bye bye desync!
Games that require steam to play do not get installed on my machine legally. I tried steam long ago and many times since and I hate it... It's a big bullshit marketing tool. I love PoE but I would be playing something else if it required steam.

I live just down the road from Bethesda and I have supported elderscrolls as my favorite series of all time, skyrim required steam, I didn't buy it, sent Bethesda a nasty email and then pirated myself a copy...

The claim that steam is similar to Xbox is accurate I think. They are similar in that they restrict access to game unless you use their specific platform. I play PC games to avoid that brand loyalty bullshit, why would I want to opt into it for PC ? Even programs designed for Mac or Linux can be used on windows and more commonly programs designed for windows can be used on Mac/Linux.

Or,
/boot computer
/load OS for computer
/load POE client

Steam loads with PC OS currently and auto logs in. Opening a game just requires you to right click on the steam icon. I even have shortcuts on my desktop that I click on for steam games, there really is no difference between a game on steam and your computer. No digging is required and I doubt the steam OS will be any less efficient.

I mean steam saves your CD key, configuration files, and saves. It's a great system and this is coming from a guy who absolutely hated steam a few years ago. Also what adds are you talking about? You don't even see the steam client to run a game. Just click on the desktop shortcut and bam game is running.

Steam "cloud" is not my favorite thing, actually I fucking hate it. PoE offered on Steam in-exclusively, could only help

Valve is going to want a cut of any money GGG makes if the game is on Steam. I don't think that idea sits well with GGG at this point.

this is not the question

you can counter that argument just by saying :
Steam wants 20% of MTX $
but steam brings 400% more players
which increase mtx sales by 200%

in the end GGG still makes more money

Won't happen like that. Many people already know about this game, and those that don't aren't going to be spending much cash on MTX. I've been on Steam since day 1, and just because a game goes on Steam doesn't mean the player base quadruples. Lots of games just rot.

Yeah but not good games. I think the advertisement from just being on Steam would make them a lot more cash tbh. I don't like Steam but I think it might be helpful for expansion of the game maybe some better servers in different locations (kill the desync issue) and help fund GGG in the future. I mean with all the issues this game has it's still one of the best out there imo and I really think Steam users would latch onto it fast. Plus the addition of accomplishments people can see by looking people up, friends lists, it's own forum on Steam etc etc.. a lot of good things on Steam.... don't know why I don't like Steam.... I think it's mainly when single player games get tied into steam... drives me nuts.
removed my own post....

Hey guys, please try to avoid personally insulting one another. It's unnecessary, and against the terms of use.
No longer works at GGG

Some people just beg for it.

If steam becomes a requirement I am out and am quite sure that many others would be also. Notice how I resisted the impulse of posting some made up percentage of how many that would be.

made up numbers are better than nothing to explain a possibility

Ok if steam becomes requirement 85% of people will leave and the other 15% will start using RMT. After all its a possibility.
