Steam Os And POE
" You can change it to either load on start-up or you have to open it manually. Auto-login is separate and can be auto or manual. You can also add in commands to shortcuts to the game to keep steam in offline mode and for some games you can bypass steam completely. |

" Windows only "manages" its own license, nothing else on my machine. DRM? And even then, I can always decide to sell my license to someone else. " Yes, I see... its a lot of "fun" to run POE under linux... at least for now: no, thanks. And things like POE are my main reason to finally switch to 7 at all, if there were stable 64 bit capabilities in XP (with actual driver support) there would be no reason at all - system-technically there would not even be a reason to not stick at 2k... invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

Windows is also a platform and as most proprietary platforms, it rely on "lock-in". The whole business strategy of Microsoft is based around lock-in. If only people understood how bad proprietary platforms are. Unfortunately, end-users are bliss and don't see the problem it cause to developers and business. Steam understood that but I hope they won't do the same.

Please consider supporting Steam / SteamOS, or Linux in general.
Having a dedicated Linux OS designed for games would solve a lot of issues when trying to run games on other Linux releases and Valve will eventually assist to get the game running(?), so this could be the perfect chance to get rid of Windows being the only option... |

the problem with Linux and Steam OS is that Windows is the platform for all 99% of the games, so there is no point in making my life harder without any real advantage

" The whole point of using SteamOs (linux) for gaming is to getting the best performance out of a system, so I don't understand what you were tryin to say with that. No longer a forum dweller, please use PM for contact purposes.

" People need to drop this attitude. There is 0 reason for Windows to be the only gaming OS. Linux is not going to make your life harder if it is supported. |

" Switching to something that "will not make my life any harder" is less than a glowing endorsement. People don't need to "drop" anything when they've got something that's working for them. Sorry. A Belligerent Expert System
