the problem with Linux and Steam OS is that Windows is the platform for all 99% of the games, so there is no point in making my life harder without any real advantage

People need to drop this attitude. There is 0 reason for Windows to be the only gaming OS. Linux is not going to make your life harder if it is supported.

Switching to something that "will not make my life any harder" is less than a glowing endorsement. People don't need to "drop" anything when they've got something that's working for them. Sorry.

Did you read what I wrote earlier? People's complacence is giving power to Microsoft, way too much power. It force everyone to support whatever garbage Microsoft decide. Maybe we should just go back to IE6? Get the whips out and make developers support it again. An application working on IE6 doesn't mean IE6 is not garbage.

Valve is going to want a cut of any money GGG makes if the game is on Steam. I don't think that idea sits well with GGG at this point.

this is not the question

you can counter that argument just by saying :
Steam wants 20% of MTX $
but steam brings 400% more players
which increase mtx sales by 200%

in the end GGG still makes more money

399% of steam players.. with bad habits, like nerf this nerf that... no always is better.. for example this forum change from close/open beta.. the first days of OB tons of QQthreads appear... with a big effor from moderators the forum reach a mid polite/educate level. we have to take care of this.

walk step by step...
Wise words buff -> balance <- nerf , need to happen , deal with it

If it is "working" is not the only question. A new Windows 7 Prof. system builder license costs approx. 120 EUR over here (250 if you go for the enduser license).

Yes, I could afford it and you can probably, too. But do I want to afford it (a second time for a new notebook in that case)? The answer to that question for me is clearly NO! when I can get a free Linux / Steam OS instead and I also know people who simply can't.

Plus it is never a bad thing to be able to choose between different products in regard to the idea of competition.
why are people against PoE on steam? there is no negative to this, only positive.

steam is a terrible platform

look how much it has crippled dota 2

strongly advise to steer clear of anything valve creates

Windows itself is a DRM.

Windows only "manages" its own license, nothing else on my machine. DRM? And even then, I can always decide to sell my license to someone else.

You are able to get another os and you stick with it.

Yes, I see... its a lot of "fun" to run POE under linux... at least for now: no, thanks.

And things like POE are my main reason to finally switch to 7 at all, if there were stable 64 bit capabilities in XP (with actual driver support) there would be no reason at all - system-technically there would not even be a reason to not stick at 2k...

If poe run good through Steam OS,thus linux, would you change to it then?

See where i am getting at?

No. I'd use Linux Mint or Ubuntu. Considering Steam's current client, their OS is likely to be shit.

Client sucks, customer service is slow, and it has the exact same harsh DRM as most companies. People are just fanboys. The one good thing about Steam is that it doesn't force its DRM on publishers, and it has good sales.

Well you can call me a fanboy all you want but the fact remains that I just havent had any problems..the client is stable. Mine always connects automatically and when I dont have a internet connection it works offline just as good..facts.

When I buy a game, the download speeds are great and when the time comes for a format and re install I just backup the entire steam folder and afterwards copy it back..not once have I had to re-install a game..facts..
