I think PoE is running out of time. Here's why:

Sad to read some comments from people pissed by not having a PoE beta key yet which is why i do not read most of this post.
I played torchlight, played 4x 40+ characters in PoE and have confirmed from bash that i will have a D3 beta key since i been beta testing some games for blizz already. To be honest i feel like d3 will be a new kind of diablo because lot have changed. I do not feel as appealed as i used to be with diablo and diablo 2. World of warcraft changed their view on RPG and how it should be. Torchlight 2 look good but to me... it will be not be as popular as PoE for the reason its almost the same kind of game and PoE will be free. They have all the time they need to adjust themself to be able to compete D3 and Torchlight2. Will they be better? Only time will tell. Just play what you enjoy playing. Playing the most popular game mean nothing if the gameplay dont suit your needs. "You Cant Tame The Beast" Last edited by Bee#1682 on Aug 26, 2011, 4:11:06 PM

D3 = fucked up auction house system
PoE = free Torchlight2 = whatever D3 has the tradition bonus from D1 and D2... so if PoE is any good it will emerge as the only rival of D3 as it has the same commercial concept LoL has, which is kinda successful as we all know |

I think people will still play PoE just because its free. I mean D3 will draw a majority of the community, but many people will still play.

I think a free Diablo II with modern graphics is pure win. This game is strategically well placed, and will only be limited by the focus and commitment of it's makers.
There are many gamers that have no desire to get involved with Blizzards latest love child. Don't mind me, just posting in hopes of a key. Last edited by qazyman#6043 on Aug 26, 2011, 4:41:56 PM

Diablo 3 will crush all other hacknslash games with ease. Anyone who thinks this statement isn't true, is delusional.
That being said, PoE looks like a pretty solid game. Only concern is, its very plain. It's plain because they want you to spend money on microtranactios. Personally I think making the game cost $20 or so would of been a better idea. Torch Light 2 suffers from a PR problem. They rarely update the website, creating huge gaps of excitement within their gaming community. I know people who absolutely hate anything to do with RPG, including Action RPGS, but these people are still going to buy diablo 3. I still play d2 to this day. Please don't act like d3 isn't going to crush all other games in its genre, we all know it will. Blizzard puts out solid products, other companies have flares of brilliance but lack proper vision to produce games of Blizzard caliber. I blame the creative directors >.>
" If someone around here would be considered as delusional, that should be you by far, since nobody else in the world except Jay Wilson and his company have experienced the game they have made (no Blizzcon, Gamecom etc). Believing or trusting so much a game company, a company which is known in the public MOSTLY for the high-quality game titles they offered a decade ago, a company which cares only for raising their stock price or approaching even more younger ages (which goes against D3), is a plain stupidity. I've been playing PoE for the last 2 weeks and I can tell you almost certainly that this game will decently hold against D3. --------------------------------------------------- ~ Main character: Butcher (marauder, softcore) ~ _____________________________________________ Last edited by greatjh1#2617 on Aug 26, 2011, 5:02:51 PM

D3 on its own merits would not garner the attention it has. It's a bad implementation of the Diablo world... but people will still buy it, because it says Blizzard's Diablo on the front.
Without that, and if it was a first generation product, I think people would be looking at things differently. If you have account problems please Email Support

Please, you'll be eating you words in 5 months time or so. People will play diablo 3 because of the title name, yes. However the game itself will be better then the rest on so many levels...
Item Customization Gear look Fluid movement Features Updates Evolved AH system Randomness Replay ability Like I said, you're delusional. D3 is going to amazing, because blizzard doesn't settle for anything less. Take S2 for example, took forever to come out - the game is nothing short of perfect. The players keep coming up with new and exciting tactics, the game is just about flawless. Nothing d3 has shown off hasn't been amazing. Also people have played d3 on panels, the 4 people in the world thing is simply not true. If you read the entire post you would of seen the positive nature toward PoE. Really though you're so incredibility tainted if you think D3 won't be better than d2. People doubted S2, and since its release Starcraft 1 has become extinct. Blizzard games go up in quality, not down sir.

I've forgotten to say there is just a few hns online games so PoE shouldn't have problems. Sure there will be things better for some people in PoE and for some in D3. Simple.

As much as I'd like to see PoE do well, it wont last versus Torchlight 2, much less Diablo 3. There's just too much polish to compete with. Not sure why people are bashing Torchlight but it was a great crawler that sold extremely well. T2 should be even better with online. D3 will obviously be king for years to come. PoE will have its own niche in the genre, albeit it small.
Despite my nay saying, I would buy/donate to PoE because I am all for small developers making great games. |
