I think PoE is running out of time. Here's why:

either way you choose to look at it, D3 is going to be the game everybody will play no matter what they're playing now.

im not so sure this will be the primary reason why PoE fails or succeeds.

good games are good games. point blank. games dont succeed because they flat out suck. games dont fail because they're best in class. even great games that are obscure in the shadow of larger titles find success because they deliver the quality that all gamers look for: a well imagined game with a well balanced challenge.

if PoE proves to be an excellent game, people will continue to play it..if not, then it will fail. for PoE to even try to compete with D3 seems a bit over-ambitious anyway, though thinking that they cant compete with D3 promotes a lack of confidence in their product. PoE devs simply need to make an excellent game, no matter how good D3 will or wont be..

I think D3 is following closely in the steps of SC2. People complaining that it's not the same as the original. It will probably meet some resistance at launch, but will be another feather in blizzards cap.

GGG have positioned their game to coexist not compete, and this shows a fair amount of smarts.

It's certainly not beyond the realm of the possible that blizzard will make a major error with D3. One that will really hurt the game. If that happens, it will be a very good day at GGG indeed.

i agree, though either way..PoE still needs to be a good game..

I agree with the OP, there are so many good games coming out soon, they're gonna need to hurry up if they wanna get a solid player base, but they still need to be careful and improve the game while in beta as much as possible.
