Manually trading with people is great fun!

I understand that the devs want trading to be slow, I'm fine with that. But there has to be a better way. Someone a few posts up from me used the exact right word to describe the trading situation:

Exhausting.

Now, I know that this game is probably never going to get the attention that AAA titles from AAA companies get from the typical gaming media outlets, but just imagine if they did for a second ignore the howling of their masters and do a piece on POE! What would they say about the trading situation? If you think it would be anything less than a full-blown ass-ripping then you are delusional.

I think the devs had a noble idea, but they forgot to factor in that most people who spam trade chat all day are utterly frustrating to deal with.

I'm sure there will be complaints even after the devs implement their final trading solution, but I'll agree anything will be an improvement over the current state, which I have to agree is simply exhausting.

It must be me but I have few problems trading. Mostly a question of not being emotionally invested in the process:
- I accept that there wil always be assholes and move on
- If someone doesnt reply I don't care
- If someone wants a bid, I make one
- If someone asks a price I give one
- If someone lowballs or highballs me I will say nty
- As most currencies are fungible I will accept most currencies against a fair rate
- I will happily negotiate about price and accept it won't always work
- If you are a newb and say so I give you a fair price
- If someone starts berating me, I will answer with :) a few times and /ignore if it doesnt help

and I'm running out of things to sell :)

Ah, I was just about to make a thread similar to this.

I play softcore after dying to many times to a dsync. I just don't have the motivation to play HC/ONS anymore before the dsync is fixed.

Anyways, I've been trying to sell/trade stuff for a week now and I haven't MADE A SINGLE DEAL YET... its like playing with bots, no one cares even though I try to sell pretty decent stuff/uniques.

Is it only on Softcore league or is this a problem in HC/ANA/ONS leagues too? People are so elitists on this game.

I don't think it's actually elitism, they are just afraid to pay too much or sell too low. Which is completely understandable. This game needs to get an AH.

I play softcore. You can sell 90% of all uniques with effort (the *truly* wretched ones such as Crown of Thorns and Leer Mask are excluded). You can sell (much) less than 1% of all rares you find, so I usually don't bother with selling rares (except the exceptional ones).

Last week I sold gems ranging from 1/0 to 20/20, ilvl77/78/79 items, 69/70/71 maps, uniques ranging from Alpha Howl down to Redbeak and Limbsplit, and a few choice rares. All found (I only flip when it is really worth it). About 10 exa worth, about half of which disappeared in the sucking maw of my map addiction and the rest is on my layaway plan for a Voltaxic.

So it is not the league.

Well then I don't know what to say. I've tried both forums and in-game without any results. I finally sold my Astramentis for 2 exalts, yay! Finally made a trade with other human being, maybe they should add an achievement!

Okey, let's get real. Got any tips how to sell items?

I've made a few trades in the game, the couple from posting on the forum and some nice person taking pity on me were successful. Most of my trades are just orbs, which are quick and easy. Everyone knows what the ratio is, everyone's happy.

Every single time
I have tried to buy a piece of gear from someone in trade chat, however, I leave with no gear and a bad taste in my mouth. It always goes like this:

ME: How much do you want for X?
Seller: Make an offer
ME: I don't know what it's worth, 1 ex?
Seller: ...........

Or

Seller: LOL GET LOST NOOB

I'll be happy to see what GGG has in mind regarding a trading platform... Because this is simply going to drive people away from the game. Is there a single new person that has tried to trade via chat that hasn't left with a bitter, negative feeling about the community? I'd like to know...

This shit right here. The trade system really, really soured me on the community here. People are assholes in general online, but its 10x worse in the trade system here. I seriously wonder how some of these people function in the real world with their pathetic people skills. I'm nice to everyone that trades with me. I even state in my FS threads, don't worry about lowballing, its no big deal, we don't all know what stuff is worth. Then to have some smart-mouth little prick tell me to go fuck myself because I couldn't read his mind and know what he wanted for something...it just pisses me off to no end. Anymore, if something doesn't have a b/o, I don't even bother. If you don't think the trade system (what a joke to even call it that) is running people off, you're delusional.

Oh, and another thing, AH != RMT. I don't think anyone wants that crap infesting PoE, but heaven forbid we have a trading system that isn't a complete clusterfuck mess though.

ahh the joys of manual trading in Poe, with many great experiences like these I cannot even begin to imagine why some "noobs" want automated trade shops ;-)

A few more.

The "I don't answer your private messages guy."
"I'd like to buy your so and so. How much are you looking to get for it?"
No answer. Did they see the message? Did they get 50 messages about it and yours was lost? Are they one of those aholes that act like they are the god of trading with the philosophy: "No reply = not interested"? No one knows.

The "I will not budge guy."
"I saw you want 6 gcp for your item. Will you take 5 gcp and one chaos?" "I'll take 5 GCP and 3 chaos." Umm, that's still 6 gcp...

The "GG items even though I got them at level 50 guy" "GG items for sale: /proceeds to spam no less than 20 junk items in chat, pushing your 2 items off the page immediately.

The "There are apparently people that actually have 100 ex" traders. "Looking to sell 5 Shav 6 link robes, 60 ex each. Looking to sell 10 mirrors, 75 ex each." Umm...who ARE these people? RM buyers? Fronts for massive chinese mining operations? People that literally play the game 15 hours a day for a year?

The problem is the currency.

Only few have alot of it.
Its hard to obtain it
When you have it you arent sure what its worth
After grinding people want a payoff not overpay
etc, etc...

At low levels its fine because your items are upgrading. Once you get to the point where you want to start rolling items and using currency everything costs too much. You could blow through your findings from 1-70 on a single item trying to get 5l. Hell even trying to get a decent roll on anything really. Sigh...
