Manually trading with people is great fun!

I've made a few trades in the game, the couple from posting on the forum and some nice person taking pity on me were successful. Most of my trades are just orbs, which are quick and easy. Everyone knows what the ratio is, everyone's happy.

Every single time
I have tried to buy a piece of gear from someone in trade chat, however, I leave with no gear and a bad taste in my mouth. It always goes like this:

ME: How much do you want for X?
Seller: Make an offer
ME: I don't know what it's worth, 1 ex?
Seller: ...........

Or

Seller: LOL GET LOST NOOB

I'll be happy to see what GGG has in mind regarding a trading platform... Because this is simply going to drive people away from the game. Is there a single new person that has tried to trade via chat that hasn't left with a bitter, negative feeling about the community? I'd like to know...

Yeah. The necessity to trade coupled with a god awful trading system is what has driven me to play only very rarely (like 3times a month) anymore. Usually until i die from desync again and lose all motivation, but that doesn't belong here.
I do have to say this.... if you are going to sell something...

Spoiler

Please know what the "F" you want for it and don't
ask me to make you an offer, wasting both of our times!!!!!

2 real stories:

me: WTB item, got a price in mind?
seller: offer
me: no thx, I want to buy it not sell to myself
seller: 4 chaos
me: deal

me: WTB ring
seller: offer?
me: 2 chaos
seller: I dont trade with lowballers
me: I don't know what it's worth, you got price tell me
seller: I was told it's worth an exalt but I'll take 15 chaos
me: so why didn't you say so in the first place? bye
Most common traders I dealt with:

Me: Hey there, how much is your _________ worth?
Trader:Uh, what's your offer?
Me: I don't know, What's your B/O price
Trader: It's 1 ex
Me: You should've told me earlier when I asked you.

Scenario 2:

Buyer: I wanna buy _______________ 5 l armor
Me: What kind of armor would u like? plate or ES?
Buyer: (no reply)
Me: Hello? I want to know what's your preference.
Buyer: Link plz
Me: Links armor(s)
Buyer: Nty, too high of level.
Me: ......Next time advertise the item level you want. bye
Ive pretty much stopped selling anything. Vendored 90% of my uniques, stopped pricing my trade threads. All I sell now is i77+ items for 2 chaos. Too much hassle selling rares, so have like 30 ex worth of unlisted loot ill eventually vendor.

To be fair a b/o has little to do with an offer.

If youre looking to sell it for 1ex but someone offers you 20chaos that doesnt mean for sure that the person will not sell it to you. Especially when it comes to stuff that rots on a store and only is found over the indexer a lot of people tend to accept offers that are below what they were looking for.

The only trades worth using time for is
- Uniques that have a rough price I can look up before contacting the seller, and then haggle over the finer detail.
- Rares that have a listed price.
- Currency conversion.

A rare without a price can take a long time to settle on a price for, with no real starting point.

My most recent trade experience:

Seller posts item on trade chat "WTS ___ 2ex"
I whisper "Will you accept 1 ex 20 chaos"
Seller replies "Can you go any higher?"
I whisper "can go as high as 22 chaos"
Seller accepts, trade commences. "OK"

Reading through other people's experiences on here, I consider myself lucky not to have been shut down at the haggling stage.
99/100 times someone lists an item in trade chat without a buyout:

How much for that?

"offer"

Do you people not understand what the question "How much for that?" means?

It's incredibly irritating trading in this game I just don't bother anymore.

Because it is always unfavorable to be the first one who says a price. Depending on what you say the other trader can either take it if he thinks he gets a steal on you, blame you a lowballer if it differs too much from what he expected or reply with a counter offer that's slightly more in his favor if you were within the price range he was aiming for.

Either way, you are in a better spot when the other person offers first. I agree that this is just one more thing that makes trading a really exhausting experience, though.

z : Wts xyz
y:how much for that

3 cases

1)guy who doesnt even know how much the thing is worth by himself

x: i am not really sure , do u have any price in mind?
y: 2 exalts
x:hmm ye thats ok for me deal

2)guy who knows the value and depending from the rarity of the item i decide whether to overprice it a bit or just sell it fast

x: 3 exalts
y: its a bit high for me or no answer at all
x:hmm so what price did u have in mind
bla bla bla deal

3)guy who is a fucking retard hoping to get a few more precious orbs from newbies or desperate people just to stash them ..

x: offer?
y: jesus christ just.. nvm
x: fucking poor noob

Still a lot better than just letting the game do it for u , its not the game`s fault , its just that in some cases humans are retards they are bad , careless , evil. All the game does is put u in front of these people. Maybe its a mistake but not stupid , its realistic and interesting and i dont really think it will ever actually change . Sure there will be improvements to the way u can advertise but not to the core so just : DEAL WITH IT :D
