Auction house Yes/No?

Trade chat and forum is indeed more annoying / slower than an Auction House, but still vastly faster & superior to looting.

You're not taking everything into consideration in regards to item trading. By default, many people hang onto items rather then selling them because it's more difficult to sell via trade chat/Forums.

If you have an auction house, most players will shift from hanging onto items, to just throwing them in the AH because it's much easier to sell.

So no, getting items in this game is not by any means easy. It is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT getting exactly what you want in a trade system. To say that trade chat is just an auction house without the buyout button is ludicrous.

So lets recap the reasons why item trading is much better for player loot satisfaction.

1. Players hang onto gear much more often because of difficulty of selling. This takes a lot of items away from the economy and thus gives players the feeling of a loot hunt.

2. The difficulty of finding the item via trade provides players with more incentive to farm for gear.

3. Having to negotiate and hope the player will sell you the item is much more satisfying when you finally do get that item you really wanted. There is very little satisfaction in typing an item into an AH search bar, and just hitting the buyout button.

Why even have trade then? Remove global economy and trading and enjoy (consequently undiluted) looting.

I'll be honest I've quit over 10+ level 70 characters now because I simply despise having to search through forums and having rarely traded and not knowing the worth of items you tend to get ripped off. I love the game too much and just end up making new characters but yeah it's really disheartening that just because I don't want to browse through forums instead of playing the game I can't end up progressing anymore. Also if you live in an odd time zone trying to trade is even worse! An AH or similar system would allow me to actually see some maps again!

Yes!

Trading in PoE is just beyond retarded!
GGG should be ashamed :-/
--== Enjoying the game ==--
The game needs vendor recipes for all types of currency items , not an Auction House .

You should be able to create the highest possible orb from the lowest via NPC recipe , this
will help the market quite a bit by setting hard exchange rates for every orb available out there .

Also GGG had to take the initiative to create their own item search etc , people are using
3-rd party websites atm and you know what I don't blame them for doing so as the current forum trade situation is just ridiculous .

Considering we have such a vast variety of affixes prefixes roll variables item levels BS on
top of BS on top of the triple BS x ~ an official trade item search engine of some sort is in high demand . Do you want to know something ? I used the forum trade posts to buy 1 item
since CBT - it was some 5 link es armor , not because I don't like to trade but because it's
a totall waste of time . And don't even get me started on the ingame chat trade BS .

We shouldn't even have trading as an option untill these issues are adressed ( Which isn't a
bad idea considering the RMT websites RIGHT , right . ).

No, there is already a AH simulator, it's called d3, if you want to play that go there, other wise, shut it.

Because there is a large base of players that do enjoy trading, myself included. And those of us that do enjoy it don't want an auction house destroying the economy.

And high-level PoE is its technologically regressed cousin. >(

Item trading has always been a part of ARPGs. So you will have some of it -- some people love to wheel and deal and haggle.

The problem with an AH is not that is a trading system per se, it's that it is hyperefficient. I realize your perspective is "well, trading is trading, and this is just a less efficient form of it", but that's the whole point about why an AH is bad for a game revolving around gear finding in an RNG context. The efficiency of the trading system matters, because it impacts how easily items are spotted and obtained. An AH does this extremely efficiently -- pretty much every decent and above item is listed there, and any player can easily scan for the best items, and obtain them if they have the requisite currency. What happens then is that the farming in the game becomes centered around farming for currency to use on the AH (either as currency itself or through your own AH sales), rather than grinding for gear for your own characters. That changes the fundamental dynamic of the game, and in a rather bad way.

So, no, it isn't the case that it doesn't matter whether a trading system is efficient or not, and that if we have *any* trading system, it must be the most hyper-efficient one, or we should not have any trading system at all. Trading will always be a part of these games, but that doesn't mean that the trading system needs to be, or should be, the hyper-efficient turn-key 24/7 digital auction house model. It breaks these games fairly badly.
NO, please no. I have played D3 and really despised the action house (even more then the boring skill system). Trading is part of the game or you can always choose to spend (a lot) of your own currency on creating your own items
