You could honestly say the two games have a different target audience.
Some series don't even keep their games in the same genre.
Darksiders went from third person hack'n'slash rpg to isometric arpg style.
Dragon Age 2 plays nothing like Dragon Age Origins.
PoE2 is not supposed to be more PoE1.

As a PoE1 vet, I like PoE2 better. There's more actual gameplay, I actually use multiple skills here, I have to actually pay attention instead of watching youtube while holding left click.

No idea what me programming has to do with THIS game. Making a game is much more than programming. A lot more. At any rate, yes I can write C++ and very few game devs do these days. However, were I running the studio I would listen to the players that gave me thousands of dollars and thousands of hours on my old game when making an obvious successor to POE.
