The Palpable and Uninformed Hate and Dismissal of POE1 Veterans Sounding the Alarm is Worrying
Let me make it clear for the record that the bones of something phenominal are in there. The game play is fantastic, its simply the game systems putting a whole lot of undesired flab around the edge (I've made more than a few threads about systems and abilities I've encountered that I find detract from the game).

You're not special because you have 6k hours in poe. This game is not a sequel to poe. It is a spiritual successor to D2. Nobody wants another poe1. The core concept got lost along the way.
The faster you realize this and return to where you came from. The happier you will be. | |
I think GGG needs to do a video or a message concerning all of the concerns in the forums. The patch was a little start but did not address the major issues that people have with the game.
Even if they did a couple minute video saying that they have been reading the issues and are looking at ways to address them. GGG let us know that you are doing something as of right now it seems like you are on vacation. |

"Then why is it called PoE2 if it isn't a sequel? Why not call it something else instead? And If you want D2 so badly, go play the remake or the original, let us PoE players have PoE. |

" The game you want is going to die. Catering to the Flavor of the Month crowd and ignoring 12 YEARS and hundreds of thousands of hours of experience from players. Yes my many thousands of hours in the game makes me special. As does the hours the other vets and streamers put in and we are all saying the same thing. This game has no longevity. If GGG choses to ignore that this game will make the D4 failure look minor. D4 will still get people because of their immense marketing budget and churn them. Either GGG needs to fix it now before it does damage or face that one day they will have to fix it in desperation and by then they have lost their opportunity. |

It's not going to die. It's going to be way more successful then poe1. It already is way more successful. There's a reason why almost nobody played the first one. Stop trying to make the sequel to D2 like the game that only appeals to a niche group of people.

There's way too many maps with too many chokepoints and corridors, I think people generally prefer open maps with plenty of space to move around, it seems to be about 70/30 in favor of tightly spaced maps vs more open maps. They need to add a way for players to skip certain areas on the atlas, and a way to run maps more suitable for their builds. A crypt or an augury takes 3x longer to clear than a savannah for example.
I'm level 90, and have yet to find a single one of these "citadels" on the atlas, I've given up even looking for them at this point. Is this supposed to be content we pursue? If so, for what level of player did they design this for? Level 80? 90? 100? I'm confident I could be level 100 before I find 3 citadels. Last edited by MrSmiley21#1051 on Dec 20, 2024, 3:39:02 PM

" -1 Path of Exile 2 is not a sequel to Path of Exile 1.... I don't even know where to begin with this. It is a spiritual successor to Diablo 2? Is this bait? Have you even played diablo 2? I will accept anyone's opinion as an expert if they have 6,000 hours of experience. I might not agree with their opinions, but I will at least respect them. |

" Path of Exile's original concept was "D3 wasn't out yet, so we made our own". This is what inspired GGG to develop that game. It's quite literally a spiritual successor to diablo 2. So PoE 2 isn't. The only reason this "sequel" was able to be made was because of the huge success and people supporting the first game over a decade. It's natural that the most dedicated players in the community have worries. |

" Except that it has nothing even remotely close to D2 other than copying visuals of main campaign? Not a single mechanic is there, even runes are not runewording atm. You cant make a different game and tie a d2 successor tag to it. Right now this game feels closer to Titan Quest 1, if we actually start to compare it with ancestors of game genre, but with everything good being toned down. |
