The Palpable and Uninformed Hate and Dismissal of POE1 Veterans Sounding the Alarm is Worrying

And you obviously have never been here before. We vets matter. WE are the ones who supported the company and WE are the ones that will continue to do so long after people like you are gone. You want to play a Souls game, go do it. PoE 2 is not and should not be like that. those games are boring trial and error until you memorize every little movement. Also again it IS NOT YOUR GAME, IT IS OUR GAME.

It's not any players game. The campaign currently has some similarities to Souls but as a whole It's not Souls. The end game is the same run through the maps spell spamming as POE 1.

We have concerns and are voicing them only to be told our voice/opinion doesn't matter. That's not a good thing.

What did you expect when your "concerns" go against core concept of the game? You complain that this, this and this is different. Cool, but you missed 1 crucial detail. IT IS MEANT TO BE! Thats why i think your drama about many aspects of the game is ridiculous.

Pro tip, hboi and poe2warriorguy literally don't play poe2, all they do is hang around on the forum trolling trying to make people mad enough to say stuff against ToS to get them banned.

There is no point in engaging with them, they aren't here to contribute positively in any form. Just ignore their posts and move on.

Edit: Be nice if the forums had a karma system, with a minimum threshold required to post in bug reports and feedback sections.

I hang around the forums while im working during the slow times. I work from home.

I currently have 110 hours ingame.
This post is nothing but drivel.

The issue is that we have PoE 1 Veterans, that want a largely copy paste version of PoE 2.

And many of these Veterans are also of the 'git gud' crowd.

Both of these groups of people, and their advice should be taken with a grain of salt.

PoE 1 lasted 12 years, that's true. But it also only appeals to a very specific type of player. Whales, Addicts, and people that like meticulous, grindy gameplay and mechanics.

Over that 12 years. The game has lost an incredible amount of players, simply from being a poor game for your average gamer.

We don't need a copy paste PoE game. Adding things like Crafting into PoE 2 just shows how completely out of touch the game is for the average player. This is what's going to lead to this game ending up in the same state as PoE 1 after a year or two. Where the only people that can play it, are those with 1000+ hours in it. Who understand all the intricacies, like the PHD you need to craft gear.

If you want a game to last. It needs to appeal to a casual, average playerbase. You can't put mechanics like PoE 1 crafting in it, and expect players to enjoy it. You can't put in 'trade' in game in it's current iteration, and expect people to like that. There is a ton about PoE 2 that is simply unnecessary. The goal is to play a game. Play a fun game. Get good loot and kill bosses.

We have a chance to change how items work in this game. So that drops are more randomized, more useful. Higher chances of getting things you need. But instead, all the veteran players are 'oh man I want crafting to be better'.

Without realizing that crafting was a crutch in PoE 1, because the loot in the game was terrible. You had to CRAFT gear, because the gear wouldn't drop. You had to stack mods on very specific maps, just to get the unique you needed, and you had to grind hundreds, if not thousands of hours to do it.

Crafting was a solution to this issue. But it never fixed the root of the issue. It just added more complexity to the game.

The root issue is that PoE, needed to fix gear a long time ago. And we have that chance right now in PoE 2. And all the 'veterans' on the forums, don't realize that their viewpoint on the game is warped, because of a decade of using the dated, broken system, to fix the issues the game had.

No one wants to join a game and play with a mandatory crafting system like this. It's unfucking believable how little self awareness the players trying to push this system have. We don't need a PoE 1 copy-paste game with slightly different combat. We have the chance to fix these issues. Lets do it. PoE 1 is still there if you want to go play it. Many of these mechanics and system don't need to be in both games.

PoE was revolutionary not because of crafting, but because of the build diversity, and the incredible diversity in spells. It had TONS of content.

Lets focus on that stuff please. PoE 2 could be an amazing game, with far more emphasis on better combat. To fix and give players some much needed quality of life in a very dated style of game. All I'm seeing with most of the suggestions is that people just want it to be PoE 1, with crafting, and non-stop map running. Come on guys. Get creative, and realize that stuff like crafting was a bandaid fix to the very poor loot system in PoE 1.

You're completely delusional if you think your average player wants to run around picking up whites and blues so they can craft themselves a new item.

They would rather it just drop off an epic boss fight.

Should we be balancing the game around the 5% of players left over after 12 years? And the 0.0001% of players that stream the game?

Get your head out of your ass guys. Seriously. Wake up and see the light. This isn't how you balance a game. Just because you paid them money, doesn't mean GGG is obligated to give you the game you want. They should be aiming at creating a game that more people can play and enjoy, without needing thousands of hours in it. Without needing to look up crafting guides.

This is why the game is in such an abysmal state right now. They're trying to appeal to you sweaty ass fuckers who have already got 5 level 70's. Everything else is suffering because they spent so much time making 100 bosses, and not enough time polishing the area's of the game that needed polishing. Fk off with posts like this, seriously.

I love most of the changes. I dislike the difficulty and extremely slow pace. If they got rid of full zone respawn on death I would like this game WAY more.
I played 10 hours and quickly came to the conclusion that this version of the game is, most likely, not the one they wanted to show me. Its a bit raw, most of it isn't there, there is no league going on. Hopefully they come back from lounging on the beach during their christmas break and are ready to really kick it into gear.

I really hope so too.
