We need an actual AH (yes another time)
There is a reason why almost no arpg game has an auction house and D3 even removed both auction houses that were in that game.

Will need to have 'I'm not a bot' authentication for every transaction; that added hassle may offset any convenience.

Just put a gold cost on it like the currency exchange, then its hard for bots to abuse it. And no, inviting, clicking button to go to hideout, trade, accept, whisper "ty" either by typing it yourself or your 3rd party program sending an automated message to the person after it auto-kicks them from your party the millisecond the trade is done is not "social interaction". Nobody cares about that, nobody needs it. Game would only benefit from an AH currency exchange-type system. Last edited by Toforto#2372 on Dec 17, 2024, 8:32:55 AM

POE 1 on consoles has a trade board where you can trade much easier. That should be implemented. |

I'm almost 100% sure it's coming after they removed the trade board. This shit it just too clunky on a gamepad rn, and that market seems very important to GGG considering even the EA launched there
Ninja.

Honestly, the trading system, as it currently exists, is perfectly acceptable to me. It's nearly identical to the one in Warframe, and the one in Warframe has existed in that form for a long time, entirely independent of PoE1 doing the same.
They were designed in this way to make it a more difficult system to abuse than in your typical MMO's. As someone who programs, and specializes in Automation systems and machine learning; It's absolutely not impossible to bot this system, but it's a huge pain in the ass to do. That matters. The barrier to entry on that sort of thing is much higher, and the people who do that sort of thing "professionally" don't exactly publish their code. You *cannot* prevent people from botting. I was one of the bastards doing it in EVE for like 10 years. You don't actually need to prevent people from botting to stabilize an economy though. You just need to make it hard enough that the number of people who actually do is a sufficiently small percentage of the playerbase. An example of a game doing this wrong would be GW2. An otherwise well managed game has areas in the world where you can go watch the bots moving in herds (They do move in herds), following the cycle timers across the map. This game is formatted differently but I, and GGG aswell apparently, really feel like integrating an AH into the game is going to harm the user economy more in the long run than the benefits it would provide in the short term. The trading website integrates directly with the game. You don't even have to copy paste shit. The search functionality is very good. It's not perfect, but it is better than the equivalent functionality in the *actual in-game AH* of a lot of other games. I know it's inconvenient. I know. But this is like the whole "Two-Factor Auth" problem. The alternative is either much less secure, or much more inconvenient. |

" I played warframe for a long time and first of all they had a similar issue: people who spent a lot of time trading could gather all pieces, even "vaulted" ones, and it was definitely an elite of people (me included), the majority of people was cut out same as here. Second, I didn't need to sell or farm for million years, I could buy currency with real money, and third there was a very limited number of items to buy and then you had them forever, no seasons. So you can't really make a parallel. " Yeah, absolutely. But we already know from PoE1 that people will just bot. Not that people spending hours in hideouts is much better imho. We just want to be able to trade without having to do that, so that botters are not the only ones having fun with endgame. Even if a couple botters get more angles for making money I think it would still be better because many players will have improvements. " And we are ok with it. We just want to avoid the part where you either spend 10 hours in chat or use bots. An automatic trade via the website would be good. Last edited by Macellomatik#7988 on Dec 17, 2024, 9:24:55 AM

" If you think like that, I'll give you some more examples. there are almost no more good ARPG, aside from PoE2 (personal opinion, i prefer PoE2 infinite times more than PoE1) BUT What if GGG show us that a good AH can be done in an ARPG leaving us the time to actually play the game? You see, when some feedbacks are sent, I get that personal tastes or whatever are important, but AH could benefit to every player, unless you trade for real money which I'm pretty sure it's against the rules? dunno, never bothered, I work to get money. So what's all the hate against a feature that could benefit and make the game even greater and accessible to everyone. Or you prefer those niche games that are only for hardcore gamers? I could point you via PM some horrible games that are very niche with a plethora of players ready to assault everyone that is proposing something new. |
