PoE's item trading system

This... is a troll right? You're not ACTUALLY serious in any of these statements...right? Jesus lmao

Obviously. I'm glad you caught that feeling I was trying to convey.

(I get the same feeling when reading what you wrote)

It makes no sense to expand and try to apply real-world economics, nor does it make sense to focus too much in the other direction. :P

tbh i actually like how trade is done in this game. it feels diferent and a lot more refreshing than other games with auction house, and im pretty sure it would be a total mess if this game had auction house...

You wouldnt be able to find those lucky low price findings as ppl would buy this insanely fast with auction house, for maps which is the only part i find the poe trade system bad you wouldnt find the map you want or it would probably increase price by A LOT.

I dont think there is any need to change trade system but instead change the way maps work/drop/etc... Since the only big problem is maps.

Having some sort of interaction with other ppl to trade even if minimal is important because without it its like u buying stuff from an npc, and u dont even feel the trade of the game.

Auction house would make flipping item a lot more easy so yeah, prices would get a lot higher and you wouldnt be able to find good prices (ik ppl can do it now but with auction house it easier so more ppl with do it and with more items)

Mark my words, if auction house is actually implemented in the future, ppl will regret it

Something is definitely needed but it's either improve trading or improve control over map acquisition. But that would mean selling would still constantly interrupt your gameplay and suck.

What do people think of the chinese trade interface? It's an older video and I'm just amazed because every reply seems to ignore its existence as well as every other thread I see on trading.

I saw it and honestly idk it just feel weird, everything is just there, personally i dont like it and would prefer it stays the same but some major map changes
The loose translation of an official GGG post regarding it seems to indicate it was a limited test of the system in their realm. And there was a reddit thread discussing it but it's like 2 years old at this point.

I liked the fact that GGG tried to cripple searching for specific gear in it but honestly I still didn't like the fact that gear was included at all.

I think the best scenario in my book would be, they implement that system for maps and currency conversions only (or only maps depending) and then we use some sort of integrated PoE trade search function. That way we get the convenience to allow us to play the game more but it wouldn't undermine the fun of playing the game to get gear.

They already do.

You post something... let's say a 5L Shavrone's Wrappings... for half the current 'low' price and within *SECONDS* you're getting spammed by trade bots (and a very, very small number of honest to goodness real live players).
And the spam won't begin to slow down for like... hours. The 'real' players will stop messaging within ten minutes or so, but the bots will just keep on sending messages every X period of time.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
Pretty much any solution that does not include IRL cash purchase is better than the trade travesty poe is equipped with now.
I still enjoy the game but it seems more and more than GGG is falling to the infallibility trap:
We created the great product and by definition we are the ones who can make it even better. People who give us advice rather than prepare the comparably good game by themselves are not work listening too.
Trade approach is among those issues. I see some ppl here defending the current system. I have never met anyone like that in game.
I started playing in 2013. Coming from games with an AH I was not happy with POE trading at all. Back in the day people had no clue what stuff was worth and it was painful as hell to get anything done.

Fast forward a few years and with POE trade, the GGG official trade and poeninja trade is so much better it isn't even comparable. Are there still jackasses that make trading not so much fun? Yes. Can you mitigate it to a huge degree by being strategic and careful? Yes.

So, I went from being absolutely appalled at the trading system to where I am today which is 100% OK with it.

Wow. Why can't we get something like that outside of China?

I may have to learn Mandarin!

The only thing I want from that video, is the "side pocket" in your inventory used to store currency and the like.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
