EA killed for "Surprise Mechanics", TencentGGG slides on "Mystery Box". How?

I make no difference. Even when GGG was a cute foundation I did not buy #unspecified@. I guess the lack of PvP in Standard League made the situation more tolerable. Let's see where it goes.

Any Tencent representative able to tell something about a shift from development to marketing?

good luck finding any tencent representative here..

every content that's in the game will be thrown to make quick cash grabs.. first was the atziri hideout then innocent hideout then later they moved to delve portal..

alot of wasted oportunities to get things in game but rather cash in than playing their own game for it..

says alot.. if they prefer you paying for content that should be earned from playing their own game then they might not see you as player anymore..

edit: I'm gonna go ahead and speculate the next could be brine king arena? heh

How? Both are loot boxes.

EA says it's a surprise, GGG says it's a mystery.

If I recall correctly, EA pulled some serious shenanigans. You could buy the loot boxes for a chance of getting a Darth Vader character to play, or you could play for 8 hours a day for several years to unlock Darth Vader through playing the game.

GGG is offering cosmetics in their loot box.

Is that a clear enough difference between the BS that EA was doing and the fairly tame stuff GGG is doing?
I feel like arguments that it's just cosmetics, which don't 'do' anything, are neglecting the concept that winning a videogame doesn't 'do' anything either. This is all just simple entertainment.

"Cosmetic items", after all, is god knows how many billion dollars worth of global business, from clothes to hair products to nail salons to spray tans. It's not nothing, it's real products that people really value. People care about winning games for the same basic reason they buy cosmetic items: it makes them feel good.

Its a difference created by those of us that have played games that have paid gate mechanics and those with just cosmetics, I wouldn't give them a pass for being loot boxes anyway but a game has to generate funding somehow and anyone whose played a directly p2win game knows why we all tolerate cosmetics vs actual in game power.

You can basically buy in-game power in PoE anyway its called RMT but at least GGG don't directly partake of that.
Not sure why people are against gambling in the first place.
Don't know from EA... haven't played one of their games for ages. Do they charge money for their stuff or do they go through the money>coins>purchases like we do here?

Not to mention that most EA games are AAA priced. When you pay (full price) for a video game, you expect access to most things by playing the game, not additional payment walls.

But people still view "F2P" as "free" or "charity", so there's no hope.

they do money > coins > purchases, as like loot boxes its a system designed to increase expenditure by a tolerated but relevant amount.

Tbh i can't think of anyone who doesn't have both loot boxes and generic gaming currency you buy 500pts of.

EA doesn't do points, you just buy their stuff with money. Except for in Apex Legends, that game has it's own currency. But it's a horrible CoD Halo wannabe, and is sort of irrelevant. They just made it as a joke to get money from all the people pretending they didn't like Fortnite because it's popular.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.
