You believe there should be no consumer protections? Bartenders that can serve without limits? No loan approval parameters?

Gambling itself is an issue, but standing on the side of predatory business is quite another.

GGG can, and should, do better

Perhaps I don't believe GGG is a predatory business and I feel your characterization of their boxes is not wholly accurate. If it is accurate then maybe your argument is with the government of New Zealand and all governments under which you can play PoE for failing to provide the consumer protections.

Bartenders that can serve to adults who want to purchase the product they are employed to sell (seems the liability should lie with the bar owner assuming the patrons need that protection from themselves)? I might see the loan process as different as it involves a written contract far more likely to be crafted to confuse a borrower than our supposed gambling issue.

That was the entire point of my OP.

Why do people have issue with EA loot boxes and not GGG? You just "feel" differently? What does that even mean in context?

Its the same predatory function.

Please do feel free to point out where I have inaccurately portrayed the GGG loot box. I was very clear and concise about them.

I'll point out that you're comparing them to something radically different as if we should believe them to be the same.

Jesus that's vague.

Are we talking about the loot boxes still, or the commentary that there should be no business protections becuase we are all adults that dont need it?

Still, I'm not sure it is a predatory function or moreso that adults playing PoE need protection from it (as for EA I don't have 1st hand knowledge of their boxes as I haven't played their games). Yes I agree there are people who will fail themselves with poor decision making time after time but I'm not sure the world should concern itself with protecting them from themselves.
People have explained to you dozens of times now why it isn't the same thing. There is also a big difference between protecting consumers and limiting consumers to save a few. Should we stop driving because a few people can't control themselves? regulate eating food because certain people can't control themselves? At what point do we reach the limit in controlling everyone around us?

These are COSMETIC Mtx that have ZERO influence on your ingame stats. If you can't control yourself buying these, you SHOULDN'T be on the internet PERIOD. It's really that simple.

Again cosmetic vs boost (p2w) are totally irrelevant. This isnt hard to understand. You are flatly wrong here.

GGG takes real money, gives you ingame currency which cannot be redeemed or traded, and then you roll the slot machine.

There are weighted rolls designed to "fail" through duplictaes and encourage additional rolls.

Its PREADATORY and has nothing to do with in-game performance.

These mystery boxes are bad all the way around, and I have given numerous suggestions on how to make them at the very least, tolerable.

Ugh that is very linear thinking, and obtuse at best.

By that logic there is literally no unethical or shady business practice because adults can make their own decisions.

I don't know about the EA loot boxes, but the GGG ones have no impact on gameplay at all. This is why I don't feel bad about the POE loot boxes, at least.

How does the gambling with real money process outcomes change with the contents of the box?

Either its gambling for the prize or it isnt, regardless of the actual virtual "worth" of the prize.

So let's say one of the box contents was a premium stash tab, now you have an issue? If so then you truly have blown my mind.
