Chris says 4.0 will take on Diablo 4

Even with modern graphics and an optimized engine its going to be hard to compete with a game like poe with half a decade of refinements and content. There is also the amount of hate many gamers have with d3 that will be hard to forget.

With that said, the ability to play a game at 100+ fps steady with smooth controls is really tempting and poe continues to be flashier and prettier but not always more optimized. GGG has to cater to the masses but optimization will likely remain my biggest gripe with the game.

This "hate" is completely overblown, especially in the echo chamber that is PoE General Discussion.

Just because you didnt like something, doesnt mean everyone else hated it. I hate Monster Hunter World. I cant deny a ton of people play it. That's the equivalent of the echo chamber here. "I didnt like it, therefore everyone else must hate it too, and it must be dead/dying." No, thats not how it works, friend.

Theres a strong possibility that PoE still has less players than D3, funnily enough.

It's in the top 10 of the best selling games ever.

Sales is the publishers metric, reception is the consumers, don't mix the two up.

You also can't ignore that at the time of release diablo 3 was in a perfect storm - huge brand value associated with blizzard, the leading arpg by far in D2 and a substantial wait period to let hype build to a ridiculous level.

Diablo 3 would have sold fantastically whether it was the worst video game ever or the best, but for many users it was a failure.

Oh cmon. Stop being so PC master race and arpg elitist. The game sold well, and CONTINUED to sell well into the tens of millions. I still enjoy it on PS4. It's a great game and its continues to do fairly well even after l this time.


I know its cool and edgy to say you hate Blizzard and D3 is for casual noobs, but it's just an old trope. If you didnt like D3 fine, but pretending no one does is ridiculous.

I like PoE, I like D3, I like Torchlight, I like Grim Dawn, I like Titan Quest. No reason to hate on any of these games tbh. Play what you like.

Who cares what he says. It was all clear the moment they sold their company to the Chinese. Tried to portray themselves as loyal to their customers and all that. They stand for nothing in my book. Especially after the moment it began to take days upon days to get a copy-pasta answer from support.

? At no point did I suggest D3 was casual nor did I say nobody liked it, I said it wasn't a success in terms of reception. On the contrary D3 has a great many things going for it its just wasted in the hands of modern blizzard. The engine is absolutely fantastic.

I've also played and enjoyed pretty much every ARPG that gets made I don't know why those are getting thrown in here either I wasn't slagging off Grim Dawn I just finished a run as a tanky POS on HC and I had a blast.

As to hating blizzard they earned that as much as they earned my love early on (though both love and hate are far too strong words lets go for respect and dislike). It isn't a trope for me I've played every blizzard game from Orcs & Humans onwards I didn't inherit my dislike off anyone else ^^

I think it will in all likelihood be a fine game, probably feel very smooth and polished. Hopefully they dump the WoWish cartoony graphics in favor of a more dark, gritty style that actually make you feel like you are taking on the army of hell. But I still fear even with that the game will lack much depth. I'm very much in wait and see mode with anything Blizz puts out from now on.
