Chris says 4.0 will take on Diablo 4
" If blizzard tendency to cater to morons is taken into consideration, considering that it's pretty much what they do since 2008 (excluding SC2). Then i'd say it will be bad. I mean, RPG's require some complexity, even ARPGS, and you can't call yourself blizzard and expect anything with more than few brain cells to actually play your game. But hey, maybe it will be good. However to fight PoE, oh boy...they better have something real good. They aren't just fighting PoE, they fight 8 years of progress and content. I know Blizzard's name still has weight but it's tipping towards the shit part of the side lately. I mean, i HATE the clear speed meta of PoE, i hate it with passion, but it's still a good game. 4.0 is definitely something i will closely watch. That said, Classic WoW is coming (yes but it doesn't count. Current blizzard didn't make that game) so Chris and team better deliver on their promise. " That's quite the hot take. I'm not sure that you have to be either a meta arpg elitist, or a casual moron. Some people want to turn on their console and play some D3 grifts. That doesn't make them "morons" D3 is easy to understand & has smooth combat. It works for all types of gamers. Trying to design your game to appeal to a larger audience makes business sense. They would much rather have a good game that sells well, than an outstanding game that caters to more hardcore sectors of the gaming community. You may not agree, and that's fine, but D4 most likely will sell in many millions of copies "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

" The game was a straight up failure. - No customizable gameplay choice (being able to switch to any skills you want, free of charge?) - Smaller teams (D2 could have 6 or 8 if I remember) - Kiddish or cartooney feel - Exploitable design (USB saving on HC PS4 to avoid death) - Crappy music, nothing that gave any feel from prior diablo series - Repeat design (A2 desert etc.) - Health globes? Really? Great another way to make the game easier... The whole game was just a straight up easier version of other games. It had terrible community options (no chat channels, character display at bottom etc.). No real economy (ie. SoJ) driving it forward. Endless grinding for infinite gem levels? Retarded. Who cares if you have a level 100 gem and can one shot level 70 greater rifts? Maybe some who enjoy personal achievement.. The whole CAPTURE of D2 was the COMMUNITY. The cow levels... the free items dropped by peoples stashes... the A1 PvP... the chat channels.... And they just troll us with some rainbow land pony cow level? D3 deserves to die. Not to mention the real money house auction? Laughable. |

" LOL I didn't play D2 for the communtiy, and the chat channels were a shit shitshow.(not to mentioned game listings) The appeal of D2 was it was a revolutionary looter, that had incentives to replay and reroll. The TC of items too was something that wasnt really done much before either, which caused people to focus farm specific areas with specific builds. " Sure it will sell, Blizzard is the Jesus of people that don't like to have to turn their brains on, and there are many of these. I mean pop-culture sells but it's trash. Kardashians also have fans, lots of them... D3 is not an ARPG, just a simple arcade beat them up with flashy effects. Its the sequel of the legendary D2 and that makes it bad, it is a shallow trashcan of what it was supposed to be. Enjoyment has nothing to do with the fact that D3 is the absolute definition of how not to make ARPGS. As for the "moron" part maybe i overreacted a bit (maybe allot) but blizzard targets casuals and their games are shallow. Being good or bad has nothing to do with it, they are simply shallow. But there are people that like shallow things for their own reasons, and i guess calling them morons was a bad idea. Rather call them "untouched by the light". D3 sold because it carried the full force of D2 name as well as Blizzard's name at the time. The outcry was enormous after people realized how bad this game was. Then they "replaced" Jay Wilson and hyped up the expansion, which led to good sales again. If D4 is to succeed they will have to up their game big time. You are however right for one thing, you chose the audience you make a game for, before you make that game. If they go after casuals, they will sell good, but if they go for "free to play" approach, they better focus on the more hardcore part of the playerbase. We will see, but i definitely don't have my hopes up. Braindead ARPG's like D3 are doomed to fail. But obviously, sales based of false hype is often enough, rather than actual good game. Except we are in 2019 now and Blizzard reputation was hammered over and over again for the last 7 years. They are losing respect on all fronts. Who knows though, if some kind of miracle happens and they release an ARPG that can get both casual and hardcore players to have fun, then were all happy. Competition is good, and GGG could definitely use some, since PoE isn't exactly roses either. Last edited by Kasapnica#2414 on May 24, 2019, 3:34:41 PM

Diablo 3 was hot garbage and couldn't ever touch this game. I don't see why anybody would want to play D4. Blizzard is a trash company now, they don't make the great games anymore that they built their brand on. Dumbed down casual games is what they put out now. I used to be such a blizz fanboi too and would play every single blizz game extensively. I won't ever touch another blizzard game again, sell outs.

" Jesus someone at Blizzard knock up your sister and flee town? Not liking games is one thing, but I think you might need to talk to someone about how Blizzard wronged you. " Cmon man, from the whole wall you took only that part :/ Agree it made no sense though. Technically though, every ARPG is simple beat them up, but the good ones atleast have some mechanics. D3 is a brainless game, for people that would reach a mental breakdown if they actually have to think about building their character or having to understand said mechanics. Then again PoE, with it's clear speed focus is closing in pretty fast. Last edited by Kasapnica#2414 on May 24, 2019, 3:39:43 PM

" Dude... obviously you take it personally, but Blizzard have problems currently, and that's a fact. Their focus and decisions are questionable at best. They aren't what they used to be and it doesn't matter how much sisters they knocked up. You know it, i know it, everyone knows it. Call it Activision, call it greed, call it whatever you want. That company deserves the criticism they are getting lately and for good reasons. |
