Tired of Auction House Deniers Advocaters
" Small correction. Betrayal has one overt timered instance (research labs), and another less obvious timered mechanic -- after you kill the main syndicate member you have a short period to kill the rest before they flee. 100% on target for what reaching level 100 was versus what it is today. For anyone that is curious, imagine T11 maps (level 78) costing 1-2 exalts each and being just as rare (maybe more rare) than T16s today. Thanks for all the fish!

" Yeah, I remembered that when I finished writing. Research; I never failed one, even with my slow, tanky Slayer back then, so the "speed" part is more a... Mental infusion, rather than a physical one. And the second part is a rather good example of how it SHOULD be done, if they're hellbent on pushing timed mechanics: You don NEED to push for speed, but you'll get rewarded if you manage to fit speed into your build. " But if people can't be bothered with low value trades (which is fair enough), why do they put them up for sale at a low value? |

" Hmm... I thought the PoE fanboys were over in the Reddit PoE subforum where they were more likely to get seen by GGG (especially Chris). I do agree that for the no-lifers today's PoE speed/power of play makes it much easier to get to level 100. You just play whatever the meta-skill is and race through all maps (with no-lifers running through the 10 acts < 4 hrs. what's the point of even having them) and in < 2 weeks you're at 100 and done for this league. But is that all that is left of PoE, to be a racing game every 13 weeks instead of an arpg? Is PoE to be only for the no-life speed racer game addicts. Looking at it from this view it is a sad ending to PoE and a completely different PoE than what GGG started out to make. GGG throwing away their founding principals for why they wanted to create PoE is a betrayal to most of the original supporters. I never said PoE: Speed Racer was bad for business. Chris quite clearly showed all at GDC that tapping the racer/shooter market will get you higher player numbers. Having a new league every 13 weeks to reset the ladder and give the racer junkies their next fix is a guaranteed way for PoE to be played forever and keep TencentGGG in the black. Based on that business model for GGG generating the maximum revenue possible the logical next step is for those wanting an AH to show to GGG how having an AH will drive up player numbers even further. You are correct, I shouldn't be letting my personal dislike of PoE: Speed Racer from clouding my discussion of having an AH in pc PoE or not. The conclusion I drew is that future PoE development is being driven by market forces (what will maximize our player numbers?) and to that end the only way to get an AH in PoE is to show GGG how this would increase the playerbase. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. OP, curse words aren't banned on these forums. You can say shit. You can say fuck.
Censors on TV make sense (well frankly I think they're unnecessary, but the point is that the censors are being applied *by* other people, *for* other people, and live studio audiences get the unredacted form), but to censor oneself voluntarily just looks ridiculous. If you don't want to curse then just don't. Everyone knows what you mean when you say "shi*", so what the fuck is the point of not just saying "shit"? |

" No. Reaching level 100 is easier for everyone. EVERY god damn league these last years, have had one or more mechanics letting you reach level 100 pretty easy, if you choose to take advantage of that mechanic. "Meta-skill no-lifers" do this in a few days/week(s). Casual players use a bit longer. Point me to the bad thing about this, please. You seem so damn hellbent on letting (again, a choice) the no-lifers, speed-racers define how YOU play the game. You don't HAVE to race through the acts. You don't have to race through the maps. I don't, and I enjoy the game - because I choose to play the game how I want. You should try it. What "founding principals" are GGG throwing away? People demanding an AH want an even faster game. Faster to beat the acts. Faster to beat maps. Faster to gear their characters. Your posts as of late are so god damn filled with contradictions and paradoxes I don't even know where to start. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Yeah don't worry, the reason there is so much shit-talk about an AH is because all these deniers know we are only a few months away from an AH being implemented. |

heh... we've been having this discussion for about 6 years now.

You know, there are workarounds every kind of auction house abuse.
They have been used in real life in the past (and now), but to my knowledge never in a video game. Let's take an AH (with a tax). Now limit your number of item to sell to 10 per account at the same time. Now account bind every item changing account for 1 week. Now make the selling time 1 week without the ability to modify your initial price. Abuse this. In 2 weeks top, everyone will get how it works, price-manipulation is gone, volume of exchange skyrockets and prices go down. NOW that being said, the relation ease-of-trade // good-loot-amount is a much more solid argument against an AH. |

I'm equally tired of players with barely any playing experience to come here and tell everyone else what the solution is. An AH is a joke. There have been plenty of reasons given why an AH wouldn't work in the way you want it. I think everyone wants trade improvements. That doesn't have to be an AH though.
P.s Thanks for giving me a chuckle about all the lvl 100 whiners who never actually made it to level 100 but know all about it. Reminds me of the OP who has 3 level 80+ chars. And thinks he knows what he's talking about. |
