GGG do not give in to the crying masses

*rolls eyes* the Dunning–Kruger effect is so over quoted... Try to come up with something just a wee bit more creative/intellectual.

I wasn't exactly trying to be creative and come up with anything new. No need for that when the work already have been done.

But let me hear your thoughts on why it is brought up so often? In my eyes the reason is the huge bigotry and elitism in the gaming community and how every one like to pretend they are better than everyone else. Just look at the OP:

"Some want floating damage numbers"

Like that would really change how hard the game would be! I really dislike how it is "cool" to pretend you are of some higher skill by rejecting every form of feedback and suggestion for possible improvements and just tell them to learn to play or something like that. That mentality is hurting the game and makes you look like an ass.

Stryker bro, what are you so mad about?

Maybe he belongs to the proletariat?? I'd be angry too lmao!!

Do you even know what a proletariat is referring to? If you actually do, what the hell does it have to do with Path of Exile?
@Grildrak:

Go and read my post on page 8 - the wow reference. I don't really believe that people here think themselves to be l33t or anything like this. What I do believe is that most ppl are scared that the game will get watered down/dumbed down to the point of it turning into another d3 or wow. This is the trend today and you have to cut ppl slack for being worried.
The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an
asteroid came close to the earth, there's snow
in Arizona, star wars and star trek have the
same director! Who the hell is playing jumanji?

So, you should also cut some slack to the casuals that are worried about how PoE shapes up for them?

There is an initial burst of growth when something in society blossoms, ideals are firm and everyone are working intensely as one, relishing the experience of success in their doings.

With time comes change, and people have different paths. Where there is unison there will eventually be separation in the wholeness of time.

First there is life, then death - which brings about a rebirth, and so it will be so long as there is existence.

The initial burst sends forth a wave of culture that will ripple outward like a drop into water. At first the water will ripple visibly, but soon the waters will calm, and it will have absorbed the drop, growing in the process.

----------------------------------

The longer GGG stays true to their ideals, with resistance to external influence, the longer their drop will ripple the waters. Soon Blizzard North has been absorbed, and their time defining the curve of the water has come to a close, their contributions absorbed into all.

Very poetic. What happens when ideals, just like anything else, change over time?

They become absorbed into all.
I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.
Oh come on.. The OP begins with a rant about "the masses" and proceeds to list a lot of things that have little to do with challenging mechanics and everything to keeping the game exclusive.

And anyway, the reason those games got dumbed down is simple : They're driven by Marketing and Shareholders. Same reason we get that many movie reboots and sequels. These people don't believe in taking risks, they want to go with the "safe" recipe.

And there's a HUGE gap between allowing combat numbers or toning down some mobs and becoming the latest iteration of WoW.
Frankly, the whole slippery slope thing sounds like a silly anti-drug or anti-piracy PSA. Take one hit of this and you'll end up shooting yourself with bleach :p

The only reason to get THAT defensive over any change is just to defend their imaginary superiority. Which is amply illustrated by bthe contempt displayed against "casual masses".

It is the portal through which all hell shall be unleased, and you embrace it in your innocence and curiosity.

I do not want easy games. In fact the only games I play are strict PvP games (sc2 and DotA), roguelikes (mainly DCSS (glhf getting a win in that before playing at least 200 games and then it probably wont be more than a 3 rune MiBe) and this which I hope will turn into a decent PvP game soon (that is why I never played D3). I find no enjoyment what so ever in an easy game, I need the reward feeling of managing to do something. I am bored to death by the modern single player games where I know that what ever I do the game is designed so that even the stupidest of the stupid button pushers can do it too.

But even so I hate the mindless rejection of almost any feedback asking for a change to almost anything. The OP is an example. You really can't seriously say that adding floating damage numbers would make that game easier. And about the FFA loot.. as it is now it is mostly a question of "do you have the PC to be able to not lag in a party spamming shiny skills?" not a lot about skills.
