GGG do not give in to the crying masses

I'm glad that you enjoy writing emo poetry...

Now please tell me which aspects of POE are heavily skill dependent? Is it the single-minded pursuit of more life nodes? The spammage of an AOE ability with GMP/chain on it in hopelessly underleveled areas so you can build up currency? Is it the ad infinitum clicking of chaos/alteration/jewelers/fusing orbs? What?

Does this game require the great reactions and mouse control of a competitive FPS game? No. Does it require the speed and strategy of a competitive RTS? No. Hell, does it even need the teamwork and tactics of a moba? Nope.

So tell me, how exactly are they dumbing down the game? What makes you more skillful than the masses? Your ability to farm docks for hours on end before you vomit of boredom?
I guess it is more knowledge heavy than skill dependant.

I do not know how you play the game, but i can tell you what i do. Well, i don't play for the big known easy combos, in fact i get rather bored by the thought. I just build whatever draws me when i look at the gems or the skill tree.

Undergeared and underleveled is where i make most of my combat, looking for a good one to play for ages. Running around with 600 ES merciless or something like that its 1 mistake and death.

I'm even melee at the moment waiting to use some higher gear, and im just dancing around these monsters knowing if i stand still for just a whole second their archers may oneshot me, etc.

Who can dance this dance?

I dont aim for skill games, i think like fps that are really reaction based, i enjoy the games where knowledge plays a large role, but if you have no skills you will simply die here. Just like that. Vaal, kaboom.

So, you should also cut some slack to the casuals that are worried about how PoE shapes up for them?

I believe that nowhere did GGG ever mention that this was a "casual" game. I could be wrong, been here since early CB, but have never seen an instance where GGG ever once said this game was "casual."

But perhaps we are all suffering from mis-communication as to what "casual" is. I work an 8 hour job and come home and play for a few hours. Is this "casual" playing? I play the default league as I'm prone to get distracted easily and don't really feel like dying in HC and getting shifted to SC - I'd have to destroy everything - ok, so I'm weird like that. Over the weekend I'll spend over 30 hours playing - does that make me "hard-core?"

I think "casual" here, at least how I'm interpreting it as ppl whining to GGG, as in so many other games, that it's "too hard herp a derp derp, make it easier." Etc..., we've all read the forums. This to me is "casual" - nerf the fuck out of the game, and give you shit on a silver platter. THIS I cannot agree with and my definition of "casual," mindless, button mashing, one-hit kill bosses, get super buffs for wiping, etc..., herp a derp derp. I believe we're all on the same page - yes??

An experiment ? So you're trolling. Does it make you feel good ?

I reacted because I loathe that sort of stupid populist generalization and dismissal of individual identity. BTW it sounds much more fascist than socialist. But people in history have jumped from one to the other.

Second reason is that the sort of fetishist pseudo-elitism that was displayed in this thread is just as toxic as the entitlement of self-proclaimed casuals.

Trolling, I never *gruff, snort, snort* troll lmao!! As for "stupid populist generalization and dismissal of individual identity," sorry to inform you, but the majority modern human society is this way - like it or not. So many followers and not enough competent leaders. Not opinion but fact. I think watching the news and just keeping your eyes open in every day life will show you all the "yes men" out there...

"fetishist pseudo-elitism" OH :O not sure I want to know about your bedroom habits lmao ;)

Cleaned the thread up a bit.

If you can tell the difference, then you'll know how we treat recidivists around here.

Carry on -- and keep it civil.

PS if this thread spirals into a discussion of prole vs bourg I'll be back.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Go and read my post on page 8 - the wow reference. I don't really believe that people here think themselves to be l33t or anything like this. What I do believe is that most ppl are scared that the game will get watered down/dumbed down to the point of it turning into another d3 or wow. This is the trend today and you have to cut ppl slack for being worried.

I do not want easy games. In fact the only games I play are strict PvP games (sc2 and DotA), roguelikes (mainly DCSS (glhf getting a win in that before playing at least 200 games and then it probably wont be more than a 3 rune MiBe) and this which I hope will turn into a decent PvP game soon (that is why I never played D3). I find no enjoyment what so ever in an easy game, I need the reward feeling of managing to do something. I am bored to death by the modern single player games where I know that what ever I do the game is designed so that even the stupidest of the stupid button pushers can do it too.

But even so I hate the mindless rejection of almost any feedback asking for a change to almost anything. The OP is an example. You really can't seriously say that adding floating damage numbers would make that game easier. And about the FFA loot.. as it is now it is mostly a question of "do you have the PC to be able to not lag in a party spamming shiny skills?" not a lot about skills.

Gril, I've been around so long and played so many games that noticing trends has become 2nd nature. Rift, for example, used to be a great game, in the beginning. Then they started to nerf shit, starting in patch 1.7 and I told them the game is going to go downhill from here. Nobody listened or believed me. Ember Isle (EI) patch - I saw what was going on with that. I told them the game is going downhill in a handbasket - anyone listen - no. Well guess what folks? Storm Legion (SL) came out and it's a direct replicate of the mechanics of EI and people are only now complaining of the horrible grind, the exaggerated inflation of prices, the dumbing down of the game, did I mention the horrible grind? Now, instead of that game being a challenge and great fun where you feel great from achievements, it's walking down the same path as WoW. Sigh... oh well, I DID warn them early on.

Feedback is great as long as I don't go into a Chinese restaurant and tell them I think they need to serve Italian.

Thanks.

Tried to figure what had been altered and deleted, took too much brainpower, conceded. ;D

You're right. This game is built on a few key components that allow you to faceroll 100% of the content with 0% try:

1) Roll a Marauder
2) Pick up Resolute Technique, Unwavering Stance, and all of the HP nodes
3) HP nodes
4) More HP Nodes
5) 5L Items with Ground Slam
6) Beat the game

I swear to God if I see another post like this from another scrub, I'm gonna punch a baby.
If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
Thanks GGG.
In the case of path of exile its like going into a chinese restaurant that is already serving italian.

Path of Exile doesn't appear to know what it wants to be. Harcore players die and get sent to default. They try to appear to appease both pvp and pve players by slapping timers and names on loot which just made things worse. Chris claims the game was made with single player in mind but yet they force pvp in public games? They need to pick a direction and stick with it.

All feedback should be evaluated individually for its worth. Shutting the door on everything because your afraid of losing some kind of set hardcore elitism isn't the way to go. GGG can't make the game alone which is why we are here.....in this beta.

p.s. this game is easy and has always been easy.

I think you and I are on very different pages.

So much wrong in just one little post, but let me just say this: PoE is a game that knows and leads a direction in a way that has been missed, let us just say it like that, and it does not need to soak itself in the juices of the all just yet.
