How much effort is effort enough for series of 0 and 1? Why don't you make a list with your opinions on some of the important ingame rewards, and what effort you feel it should be necessary to get them? Just a shortish one ;)

Be sure to point out the people who want things handed to them with no effort and I'll be sure to ignore them.

Until then, how's this relevant to a thread talking about ways to improve the game?
OP isnt getting his way in regards to looting. Looting options FTW

"Don't give in to the crying masses"

Ok

The masses will just all leave like the current trend. Which will leave you with to small a number of players which won't sustain the 10 year plan on a F2P game where majority who do play don't even contribute to the micros, won't even sustain the game till the end of the year. Investor wil soon pull out after the masses do.

Ya, great plan OP lawl

Creating, maintaining and improving a game is VERY financially costly.

Your title should be, "don't give in to the masses, just close the game servers instead"

So floating damage numbers make the game easier.

I think some people in this community are legitimately delusional. There's no other answer.

Yeah, just like releasing some of the damage figures and mechanics about the game will make the game so much easier.

Having people who are willing to do the work and math involved in min-maxing is so much easier than just throwing shit together and praying it works. It's amazing logic, for sure.

The masses want it easier eternally, and do not look back, ever.

The masses will bring the game to the point where the few with leave because they cannot distinguish themselves by their skill and knowledge, and then the masses will leave because they follow and secretly wants to be like the few.

Have courage GGG, we believe in the hardcore ARPG game, free loot, etc etc, a bloodthirsty enviroment where the few will have great fun, and the masses will not get their ways.

We already see it happening,

Some want floating damage numbers, some want no FFA loot, etc etc

They are here now in the community and they will not stop asking you to make the game more mindless.

I pray that you have the courage to resist and know that the game is yours to make to your vision, and that no amount of cry will make you give in.

It is like children - once you start giving in they know they can have their way and will never stop.

Never give in. You are reviving my hope in the ARPG genre.

Excellent idea stand steadfast for the minority of players who do not think there are no problems in the game which need resolved.... that is a guaranteed path to success. Don't give way, maintain your artistic independence and you can soon be just like EA who is on the brink of having to close it's doors because it did not listen to it's players to maintain it's integrity... after all you wrote this game for you.. and not for the people who might play it! Ignore that the economy stinks, ignore that crafting is totally screwy, ignore desync.... ignore everything!!! And one day.... you will not hear any more complaining and your servers will be far... far ... under capacity!

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

They don't make the game easier - just stupider. I don't want to play a game to have maths thrust in my face - I'm happy to dig for that stuff and 'math' away in the background but numbers on my screen is the dumbest ass idea ever. Go play asian games if you want to have the bare mechanics thrust in your face so obviously.

This thread reminds me of this bumper sticker my neighbor has, which reads: "I DON'T TRUST THE LIBERAL MEDIA!!!". I find it hilarious, because anyone with an IQ above room temperature would either not have such an outlandish bumper sticker, or would have the sense to have one that reads: "I DON'T TRUST THE MEDIA!"; as if Liberal media has a monopoly on bullshit (especially with Faux News being Conservative).

Similarly, if the original poster wasn't so short sighted, they wouldn't have made this post. Because the reality of the situation is that, no, GGG shouldn't listen to "the crying masses" (which is such a pathetic, canned, sweeping generalization/ad hominem it's not even funny), but they also shouldn't overly focus on the niche, super picky, super opinionated desires of far fewer people that selfishly care more about GGG sticking to their own specific tastes and blind, knee-jerk xenophobic reactions to suggested changes, even if it drives away notoriety and profit from this game. It is possible to keep the game difficult and hardcore, while also doing away with flaws that are being pretty objectively and cogently argued against, but the mouthy "hardcore" wanna be's deride as being commentary worthy only of "go back to D3 lololz".
