Moonlight Oasis (no MTX)

Tileset: Skeletal Hideout/Ossuary
Theme: Canyon oasis lit by moonlight and candlelight
Master Levels: Zana 6, Einhar 6, Niko 5, Alva 4 (I suck at incursions)

I wanted to show people what could be accomplished using only the in-game decoration resources from unmaxed masters. I also wanted to challenge myself to see if I could completely convert the Skeletal Hideout into something entirely different. I used nearly 300 pieces of stone and waged a constant battle against the decoration limit, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of new tricks. I hope you find it inspiring! I wasn't able to get a decent video tour, but feel free to message me if you catch me in-game if you want to visit. Currently playing as: ARTIRIEN_THE BETRAYED

Central Oasis

Tala moana, exiles! Looking for a place to relax between adventures? Need a break from all the blood, horror, and eldritch terror? Visit the Moonlight Oasis and give yourself a chance to rest and relax. This welcoming village offers swimming, hunting, fishing, shopping, worship, and more.

Browse the wares of over 20 merchants by candlelight. Want a bite to eat? Head down to the southern pond for fresh meat and vegetarian fare. The seagull-on-a-stick guy may seem a bit odd, but his birds are top-notch (just don’t ask him about his hat). Pick up baskets, bottles, rugs, and other household goods at the central circle, then grab a drink with friends at the tavern and enjoy a hookah together.

The weapon vendors in the western oasis will sharper your steel and restring your bow for you. Helena can help you craft that special something precisely to your taste, while Jun offers hand-to-hand combat training for those with the aptitude. Or you could stroll along the stream to the northern oasis and visit Zana’s library and Alva’s Vaal treasures for a bit of culture.

Need to get in touch with your more primitive side? Head down to the Karui quarter. There you can pick up a hand-carved idol, visit the tribal elders in their clanhouse, let Navali divine your future, or let the boneseller reassure you that “in Hinekora’s dark realm, dead Kitava lies dreaming while awaiting the next turn of the endless cycle”.

If you’re seeking a more mystical experience, light a candle at Hinekora’s statue while you’re there, visit Einhar’s grotto to see if the First Ones look upon the latest sacrifice with favor, offer a sword to Garukhan at the shrine of winds, or partake in a mind-opening experience with the mushroom vendor.

Theme: Dual Forest Encampments
Hideout: Lush Hideout

Just something simple I whipped out. New Master levels are kinda low, so nothing really fancy.

That's why some of the greatest masters started this training camp. Finding lost Exiles to prepare and train them to face the Syndicate.

Stately Hideout

2nd entry

Tileset: Unearthed hideout
Theme: Great Old One cult hideout

The basic idea is that The Exile goes mad and joins the cult of The Great Old One. He betrays Jun and Zana, the only masters that are not mad or drunken with power, and imprisons them. In the hideout of the cult, there is a shrine to TGOO, and human sacrifice is made to satiate the patron's hunger. Middle of the hideout is the treasury, laboratory and waypoint stone sanctuary. Top left is the research area, in which cultists perform every atrocity possible, to try and weaken the veil between realms, allowing their master to return to mortal world from his slumber.

Here are my two submissions for this competition.

----------

First submission:
Desert City
Desert Hideout

Video: https://youtu.be/7p0WFeBaHdY

I wanted to have a hideout with a lot of life, so I chose to do something town-like. Houses, a market place, a park next to the oasis, benches, restoration, a forge, two posts at the town entrance where people can post their announcements, ... To add more life in it, I've also populated and furnished the houses whose tenants decided to not use any curtains (or maybe they couldn't afford it).

Outside the town lies an ancient mausoleum, and also some strange ritual place.

(There's also a backdoor to the city because I need my hideout to also be convenient!)

----------

Second submission:
Deceptive Garden
Stately Hideout

Video: https://youtu.be/I8J5vmg2Auo

For this hideout, my goal was to have something very basic in appearance with a hidden secret room.

It's just a simple garden with a chapel. The masters have brought their stuff in it as a base of operations of some sort, but they've soon discovered that this simple garden had in fact an ancient crypt hidden behind the thick foliage.

This if the first hideout that I designed for the competition. In the end, I liked the secret room concept, but it came at the cost of the rest of the hideout being too basic for my taste, which made me prefer the hideout that I had before the contest. For this reason, I decided to make another one, which is Desert City. I still like the way how the secret room in this hideout is implemented, so I've decided to also submit this hideout, in case other people like it.
