People are overreacting
" In the case of Tencent I can't at the moment. But I could point out dozens of legendary developers that, a few years after being bought by a megacorp, ceased to exist. Tencent has its own ideas, which can hardly coexist with those of an indie company developing a niche old-schhol PC ARPG. PoE will change a lot in the the long run, you can bet it. |

" You guys did not see POE is no more old-school since at least 2.0? Poe changed long ago! It is now a shooter with quests. And it is not a good sign because indeed it will change a lot again toward rentability. So yea poe will be breach leagues every seasons until the servers are down. Ok.
There are alot of things we just dont know. GGG was not a publicly listed company on the stock exchange. As such this is a private sale of shares. Now if these shares come with non voting rights then all is good, the creative and financial models wont really change (tencent cant vote!) There is a precedence for this, https://www.reuters.com/article/us-snap-tencent-holdings-videogames/video-games-could-be-next-for-snapchat-chinas-tencent-says-idUSKBN1D90A2 The relevant section reads "Tencent’s shares do not have voting power and the company will not have a board seat" If however this is just the big payday that Chris and the others richly deserve and Tencent do fuck with things then... There are other ARPG startups out there. I'll miss PoE and my NZ bros across the ditch. What i really hope for is for things to not be fucked over for the 60 plus staff that GGG have working for them. I cant imagine NZ has a massive gaming development scene. Much love, Matt. There are 10 types of people. Those that know binary, and those that dont.

" Yeah it has changed a lot over the yeats (for a FTP game this is normal if you want to stay in business) but I would still consider it old-school for many aspects. |

It dose not matter since PoE has changed into a new game in the last 16 mounts but I supported a indy company cuz i wanted to see the vision they presented come to live in game . GGG did this and i got to play that game so i suppose i got what i payed for ... kind of .
However that game dose not exist anymore , it has been patched over and new PoE lives now , and now a super corporation owned it , so that sucks . Just for the record tencent is bad , the idea of company's like this is bad , and the fact they exist is bad , for every living human on the planet . GGG won't get another cent off me , they most certainty did not rip me off , i got many hours out of a great game , but somehow i still feel riped off for some reason . I may still play it from time to time , not for nostalgia mind you , that's been patched over sadly . Ironically D3 has become closer to the original PoE and PoE has become more like the original D3 , strange times we live in P.S. this buyout won't change anything about PoE , it will be businesses as usual , your just giving your money to truly evil people now , instead of our friend Chris. Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time
Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them. |

I don't believe Tencent bought GGG to change PoE in a brutal manner overnight to bloom new Asian mtx's everywhere - the game is as it is, I'd rather think they have more a plan for the future of the PoE license : PoE has been out for what almost 5 years it's time to think about the sequel and there they will probably put more than a grain of salt into the design and development processes. And it's a good way to set foot in the western market through a game with a good reputation from an independant (and thus cheap) company to carry out their ambitions.

" Its even better. I did some research and they dont do anything outside china region. All gaming companies are free to do what they want if its any other place than China. Even if they did than it wouldnt be bad at all. Even their mobile games dont have intrusive P2W like most of them. |

" Why make a Sequel to a game that can be evolved? This isnt 2002 anymore. Just look at how long WoW survived (the game came out in 2004 btw). Its utter nonsense to want a Sequel these days especially if the Story of Path of Exile is still evolving. And btw.. what if the Money that came in from Tencent is acutally the money that was missing to hire more people so the development of Path of Exile 2 can start without dropping the development of PoE (it takes years to make a game btw)? But hey if you are not ok with Tencent then just leave the game and look for another /shrug dont wish the game to crash and burn because unlike you and the other whiners here and on reddit people like me still enjoy it ;) |

They sky is falling! Again! We are all doomed.
Let's just wait and see what happens. Even if PoE would shut down tomorrow I would not regret a cent spent on this game. I have had a great time with it since closed beta and I expect that to continue for a long time to come. As long as that is the case I will keep spending money on it. Also: please don't consider yourself as being terribly important for the overall success of PoE. No matter how much money you spent on "supporter packs". It makes you look foolish. If you want to have a say on the strategy of a company - buy shares and not its products. |

" That game was ruined when they had a sexual deviant aka lyte in charge of player punishments. I know no one is perfect but jesus fuck. |
