[Sept 18] Player-player Trading
" that's exactly what i was thinking about! Thx for helping me expressing my guesses ^^ But the switch shouldn't be too much near the items, else it would incur missclicks, which teleport back to village and without items. |

A day ago I had a idea to simplify trading with common/middle-rare content, that could be integrated in this website:
you'll fill one of the two forms: search/want to buy want to sell after placing your offer/demand* you can add a description and suggest a payment* to a) offer a automatic shop-system -> someone just accepts, rest will happy automatic b) the partner can modify the offer (eg. in/decrease the amount of currency-items) c) make a auction ? the idea is to provide a blackboard-style that allows to speed up and make trading easier and safer like search a party, you could add a board in each town, wich offers the form * how to define your demand/payment? a list with with all items would be, well, the paint in the a**, but in order to make the system run without human confirmation, a identificationsystem (eg. for mods or stats) would be nice. with best regards foxy |

I think something as simple as -
Right click on a players name. Click Trade Trade Window Pops up Place items you want to trade Once both items are in the windows.... Hit submit Trade Trade gets locked(Unable to modify items to be traded) A Window comes up requesting if you approve the items to be traded so you can verify the items. This would prevent any type of ninja type looting. The second trade approval will lock those items in the trade window, if you notice the item you are trading for is different you can just goto cancel the trade /report scammer... |

" IMO that is way too complicate, rather do one like the post above me says. Trading shouldn't take long so I don't like the idea of going on a private party then to an instant then chest and lever, etc... Just right click and trade. And yes, I agree having both a website trade and an ingame trade. I think if both the players are online trading through the website could be annoying since some people play fullscreen and takes long to load or whatever. It is just more handy. Said this, as closed beta the party-drop works fine, but I am hoping you guys implement an ingame trade aswell. Shouldn't be that hard. Weaklings can't pick their way of death.

interesting idea, but its way too long and complicated...
trading window : two colums 1 for you 1 for the dude you'r trading with .. put the item, agreed, not agreed..validate..done time spent 5 sec .. dnt need to invent again the wheel . |

Just started playing, coop with 1 friend. We generally share items by dropping them on the ground in ARPGs, because it takes up a lot less time than opening the trading screen and waiting. (Which is not to say the trading screen isn't necessary for other people.)
The main nuisance in PoE is that we can't move potentially interesting items between characters *and* use a vendor at the same time. Either we have to trade before going into town (which is a nuisance as our inventories are full), or we have to trade after (which is a nuisance as we can't get rid of the obsolete items). Either of the following solutions would be great... 1. A vendor somewhere near a waypoint in an instanced area. 2. A party-instanced version of town. [This has probably been discussed elsewhere, but for those of us who aren't interested in playing with random strangers, having shared towns does nothing but make the game a little more inconvenient.] Last edited by Burbly#0942 on Aug 9, 2012, 7:47:07 PM

Actually what I would find nice is a "reverse"-Auction House.
The basic problem with an auction house is that you see the possible Items you could wear, which will make everything you drop look bad. So the better idea is to let people post the Items they wear and what improvements they want. So if you find a nice sword you just look for people that search for a sword to upgrade theirs. To improve things you could also add the mods you would like on your sword, which would make searching more effective. So the only thing you see in the AH are things that people actually have, so the main part of the AH consists of average items, since that are the pieces of equipment you want to improve. In a normal AH you will only see the items worth selling, but if you reverse it, you will most likely find a lot of items that nobody wants to sell and maybe you feel a bit lucky if you are able to provide an upgrade to someone else, since you actually notice that their luck isn't better than yours. |

I've a suggestion for the web integration idea that may not be popular.
Don't make it easy for the players to find what they need. Because indirectly, it'd kill the fun of grinding for gear! :P Edit: " +1, that sounds amazing! Although, i have a question. If i just see average items for sale in there. What am i going to offer in exchange? A rare weapon?. Or different average items? Maybe, it could be a currency AH... since those are the items needed to upgrade the equipment. "The harder the game, the better." Last edited by Vold316#0180 on Sep 9, 2012, 1:42:10 PM

Its easy. Ask if somebody has what you want in global chat, talk private message with him, meet at an instance, open trade window (Allright, would prefer if this could be done in town).
This already works, allthough u haft to drop items out of your inv with risk of getting scammed, but a window would fix this. I,ve traded plenty of times this way. Sure i wouldnt mind other ways of trading, as long as an Auction House is not added. |

Hey Chris (or anyone else),
It's been a while since a dev has commented on this thread so I have a couple of questions. 1/ How is the trade system coming along and can we expect to see it rolled out soon? I'll assume the simple p2p in game trade window mentioned by Chris was never followed through with. 2/ With the trade system will there be a way to trade both in game and on the website? 3/ And finally is it going to be possible to do trades through the website without having both people online at the same time? I ask this as with the MANY different timezones playing it is hard for someone in NZ like me to trade with some EU players. Cheers. IGN: Amel, Ameladol, Spock, ILoveUniqueThings, AmelPVP
