As I said...oblivious.

I stand by my initial response.

If the concern or perceived issue is 5-10 posters constantly dominating threads, then the correct response is not to run away.

As a gentle remark, i could simply quote you and post the same one-liner. That's how constructive it is.

Peace,

-Boem-

Do you think people just quit off the bat? I will give you my own personal anecdote, a certain person riles me up no end with what he posts, the way he posts, the frequency of his posts & due to his presence being in almost every thread going I couldn't read the forum without being subjected to his 'content' on every page, so I tried to ignore him, but he is everywhere, so I try to counter him, but his responses do nothing but to add fuel to the fire, so I get mad and call him out, then I get probated and his posts stay put. So I cool off, come back and it happens again, an again, so I say fuck it and just go to reddit where Chris posts regularly, the latest info is always top spot and the person I can't stand isn't really there.

So what did I do wrong? What is the correct response? Should I still be here butting heads with trollish individuals and getting probations?

I'll give you an example closer to home for you...your signature, I know you know it is cringey and therefore a troll attempt, it's the kind of thing that gets old real fast and while not hugely significant it just makes this place less of a place to visit. Unnecessary.

There is also the possibility of simply ignoring that person's remarks (unless they hold valuable contribution to the discussion at hand) and not getting "baited" by them.(i assume you perceive them as baits?)

Though i understand the frustration, i don't disagree with you on the forum inequality.

However, we as people have tools at our disposal that enable us to ignore negative factors. So until equality is achieved it is simply a mater of completely ignoring the person, without asking the entire community to ignore that person.

As to my sign-off. It is not, there is a reason why i write it manually every single time i make a post instead of putting it in a sig.
I believe in communication and the human connection when doing so, automating this message would
devaluate it for me entirely. As such, i type it every single time manually, while also meaning it.

This doesn't mean i have to reach an agreement with the person i am conversing with, it simply imply's i do wish them the best irrelevant of personal biased opinions on one another.

I would wish peace on my worst enemy and in doing so, i would mean it with my entire being. Even if they don't grant me the same thought in return.
I was thought many things when i was younger, but having respect for one another and wishing prosperity on other people irrelevant of past and present, i thought myself.

Peace,

-Boem-

For the N-th time: the correct response is to ignore.

Or we could just use the site the devs seem to prefer for game related news/discussion, reddit. Maybe when this upvote/downvote system hits the forums quality threads will be at the top, quality posts will be up at the top and we won't have to scroll through the same nonsense from the same 5 or so posters because they will be buried.
Yes, if you prefer a vote-based forum, reddit is obviously the better place to be. I hope they don't introduce that here.

If nothing else, there is already a well-established popularity contest forum for PoE players, no need to duplicate what is existing and working.
You have to be realistic about these things.

Well I can see why Chris would want it.

I should stay out of this..., but come on, that signature? For whatever better reasons you may have for your feelings, why bring up something so petty? A signature like that is just a personal thing that people do - you're attacking the person.

Chris and other GGG members certainly have their reasons. They are also free to post wherever they want. However, I still maintain this is unprofessional and while it may have been fine years ago, PoE has evolved past the 'we're just passionate amateurs' stage and it leaves a bad impression.
You have to be realistic about these things.

How so? Imagine being in his shoes, it's no wonder Chris prefers discussions on reddit. Its an unorganized disaster in here and if he does give it a shot all he's gonna read is posts from the same 5 dudes in every thread.
Call it what you want, popularity contest, whatever but garbage should be buried.

False. Have you even seen threads started by GGG, Chris included, in the Development Manifesto section?

You are biased.

The top 5 most prolific posters in the forum have become much more visible lately because the general forum activity is at a steep decline, while they keep posting. They stand out. They are, however, mostly active in certain threads and subforums.

You simply prefer the voting system: that's fine. This forum is different. What's an unorganized disaster to you is just how others want it to be. I don't go to reddit to tell them how they are all zombies and sheep and so forth just because I don't like their mode of communication. Not that such posts would be given a chance there.

A lot of posts in this thread can be boiled down to 'I want the forum to be like Reddit'. I will similarly simplify my position to 'I don't'.
You have to be realistic about these things.

This EXACT scenario has lead to several people moving to Reddit.

Someone at Reddit asked why people don't like the official forums. Several answered. People in this thread don't like the answers.

OK, we gave the reasons. If those reasons are viewed as bad, fine, but understand people spoke up on why people are leaving.
