Health is a universal stat in every ARPG. You can't possibly expect to survive in harder difficulty without some decent amount of HP. I played diablo 1&2, Dungeon Siege 1&2, Titan Quest and many more. It's just essential you get more HP if you want to progress and more defense if you want to die less. Otherwise you get killed many times.

This aint d3, where you can dump all your gear to match your dps stat and percent it based on your main haind dps, that's beyond stupid, one of the many reasons d3 failed.

Being forced to health-check till you have no passives is stupid, and honestly as much as i love the game i don't intend on being forced into a massive defensive/resists/hp node check to the point where i can't make my own build.

I see your point but as someone stated before, gear with +HP and at least some %HP nodes work as well if you want to be more dps oriented. This way you can spend more nodes on damage. As i said tho, it is essential that the more you progress and the harder the mobs get, the more the need for some defensive abilities will rise. It doesn't make sense to be highly damage oriented that also can tank everything. At least for me that contradicts itself. There is a balance between the two. Or at least some "minimums" to be covered. It was the same in d2. If you had low hp and bad resists in hell, the mobs killed you easy. Tho that didn't stop people to be damage oriented after covering some of those "minimum" defense needs. Maybe the problem you people experience is this "minimum" being quite high. :)

They flat out lied, you will NOT survive unless you stack mostly hp/defensive/resists, play the game hit 65+ find out.
What is Glorious Plate, for 1000?
1 Item, 1000 HP. You no longer need to stack HP or a lot of HP nodes. You'll be fine to stack as much damage as you want without losing a lot of survivability. Have fun.

I don't even know what this is and if its a unique then most people are never going to get one. 1000 HP isn't anything for the end game, you need multiples of that number.

Maybe you are right. I've yet to reach that level in hardcore. Tho hardcore implies stacking survivability due to the nature of it. As for the softcore, maybe you are right. I gave my reasoning behind this health ordeal. ;)

oh wow!

only slight problem is the required 180 str.
Most of us here aren't talking about hardcore. We want to be able to play full DPS glass cannons in soft core and still be viable in the mid - end game and reach level 80+ like everyone else. However, these builds caanot survive past act 1 cruel difficulty without constantly dying and losing too much XP.

And if you're being a glass cannon, you'd have that. Since Strength can boost Spell, Melee, or Ranged damage when you use the appropriate perks. If someone needs the additional HP to survive, that's an easy way to pump it out.

The only way this will be achieved is by nerfing the damage of mobs, their health or buffing the skill damage nodes do. In all this situations the game will become easier, do you believe this will be right way to go? I certainly don't. Because while at moderate amount it may improve the game, such changes are often made in excess, effectively ruining the game. Look what happened to d3, they nerfed the hell out of inferno and the game become a cakewalk.

Those aren't the only ways, there are plent of ways to do it without affecting the game.

buff health nodes (remove some)
add a base health multiplier (or improve it)
change gear health rolls to a higher amount
