RoS sales is a sign that millions are still searching for a better arpg playing experience. .

@ the people who think poe is hardcore...

You cant pvp because of desynce and server lag.<<<< it cant be a hardcore game for hardcore gamers unless there is great pvp. poe cant offer anything but a weird crafting system and laggy gameplay.

Yes lets, because when you get an ilevel 72 affix it will mean a hell of a lot more. Bring out all the feels, just like the lvl 1 affix brings out the other feels. Roller Coaster of Feels. Don't ruin the feels with things that "even you out", you become a zombie, get bored or not excited.

That's precisely how path of trading have made me feel: like a zombie. No drop excites me in PoE.

That's ok though, the main objective of Action Rpg is the action and rpg. "loot" is not a necessary component

It's evidence there are clueless casuals about that crave shallow instant gratification. Surprise?

PoE is a niche game, for a niche audience.

So, it seems like the world is still in harmony.

Moving on...

Yes, again anubite with his crap.
But I guess you have to make yourself feel better/HC by any means necessary.

Since the RoS Expansion is basically turning D3 into a even more casual friendly game (choose your difficulty, easy leveling to max level, self found is now 100% viable and easy as fuck, legendaries everyhwere) it has a very high potential at making a lot of people having a good old fun time at home.

Well...

Choosing your difficulty is making a game casual? How about gambling for difficulty, what does that make a game? I really cannot see what's exactly casual in choosing the difficulty. A choice is always a good thing.
If you like gambling for difficulty, just write all difficulties on small papers and mix them, pull one out and play that one, that would bring a PoE feeling.

To be honest, leveling to max level in PoE is a lot easier than getting to 100+ paragons in D3 (you're saying max level in D3, but there is no such thing), it just requires flipping instead of slaying monsters.
By easier, rolling easy 77-78 maps and just facerolling in parties. 77-78 maps provide most experience, and T6 provides most experience in D3, so, lets compare a piss-easy 77-78 map with T6... Clear as a day which one is incredibly more difficult.

Self found easy, in what way exactly? It's easier than in PoE, logically, because it's a self found based gameplay.

The casual argument is very unclear to me.

I completely agree with you there. GGG positioned PoE as "hardcore" game, but in fact, D3 is more "hardcore" than PoE, ATM. In softcore D3, death doesnt matter, but in hardcore, it DOES.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
sales dont really mean anything about searching for experience, one way or the other, it just means RoS is more popular than PoE, which is obvious.

a lot of people have no clue what PoE is. gazillion of people know the diablo trademark.

first you work for your name, then your name works for you (c)

PvP is miles away from defining if a game is hardcore or not.
PoE is obviously and clearly not a PvP oriented game.

Blizzard is ( not only, but still is ) a casuals magnet, has been for many many years.

D3 allows you to change skills at will with no real detriment, thus allowing you to adapt to various situations or, as the case may be, just changing pretties when you get sick of the death beam of death and want to try homing missiles of homing instead. Path of Exile allows you to change skills but without a good passive foundation, they'll be next to useless. The keyword there is 'commitment'.

SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

It is also a great hardcore magnet, see starcraft and starcraft 2.

See what I wrote in brackets.

Where does Blizzard's money come from ? Hardcore gamers ? Or from WoW ( Huge Majority of non hardcore gamers in there I'm sure ) ?

Stop calling ppl casuals or not, this is ridiculous.
Just try to get on the level of others ppl; gz example:

You are hardcore gamer programmer... Getting married & some child you suddently realize how the game should be now, considering the time u can spend in it...

Then you've become casual, there's noting wrong with it.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
Yep, somehow D3 being balanced around AH is bad, but PoE being balanced around trading and partying is great.

It's more popular because people don't play games as a chore. Games are for fun, which unfortunately PoE isn't right now, and Diablo 3 is. It's hillarious to see how many people can't spot the pattern.. D3 WAS too easy, buy your items, faceroll the game etc etc, people didn't like it so they came to play PoE, now PoE is a giant bore fest in which you can buy items and face roll the game, well you NEED to buy items to play the game else RNG kicks you in the nuts and forces you to trade/quit.

Pretty much this.
Saw this guy playing the other day
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/879637
Don't know why he deleted his build, but his gear is insane, there is no way you could get it in this game without trading, doesn't matter how much time you play. And his build is a faceroll.

How I see it:
Do you like trading and theorycrafting? — Play PoE
Do you like playing ARPGs? — Play D3
If Blizzard adds a skill tree similar to D2, I will leave PoE and never come back.
