It has to do with a game that has a "legitimate" log-out escape whenever it gets ugly, but classifies itself as a hardcore game.
Nobody mentioned escaping only in HC leagues.

No, it has to do with softcorers circlejerking about how hardcore players aren't hardcore because of alt+f4 in order to feel better about themselves playing in softcore. The discussion about this comes up every time somebody even mentions the word hardcore, regardless of context, so you can see how inferior the circlejerkers must feel.

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I'm still pretty sure it's the undertone, 'hardcore' just sounds so... puissant :)
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I already suggested to rename hardcore to babbycore, so the softcorers don't feel inferior anymore. I've been denied ;_;

What is hardcore about avoiding any probable death scenario? Just a word to make you feel better than other people, on the internet, on a game... All you do is buy items to pass the gear check anyway, such a challenge!

Bolded part is evidence that this is not about alt+f4. The inferiority complex faction will always come up with new stuff to devalue the achievement of others and feel better about itself.

I could care less what you do, seriously.. I just find it highly intriguing why you feel the need to label your self as 'hardcore' when you avoid situations that may cause death, then have the nerve to accuse others of needing to feel better about them selves for criticizing said people. Rather hypocritical if you ask me.

So, someone who doesn't use log-out when in danger is a "softcorer"?

Spoiler
Oh, I'm not a famous HC player in this game. A total fail, to be honest.
Though I never altf4, even when I have seconds to react and I know I'll die.
But masses do it. Top streamers do it. High ladder ranks do it. They use instalogout scripts ffs.
Hardcore...my ass.
There must be clear rules, strict and for all.

At first, he was referring to the HC league, but in the end, that "Hardcore...my ass" is about the overall hardcore attitude in the game, because those 3 sorts of players are both on HC and Standard league, and people do it in both leagues.

And that's why, PoE cannot be considered as a hardcore game, no matter what one of GGG staff wrote about time investment and all that crap that can be witnessed even in a casino, let alone other games outside of Flappy Bird shit.
Almost any RTS is millions of times more "hardcore" than PoE, yet none of them claim to be so. But GGG does, because they need those kind of people that would feel hardcore for just playing the game, which is a fucking joke.

Be careful, I went over this a few weeks ago how GGG instill a mentality on loyal players and got probated for it.

Again, this is not about alt+f4. I even provided clear evidence :(
