Path of Desync?

Jesus fuck, some of you desync-apologists are unbearable. It isn't just the player that can desync. Monsters can desync too.

It can be seen as early as Act 1. Know those Cannibals in The Coast or Rhoas in Mud Flats? Even if your character is standing perfectly still, those monsters can desync all by themselves. Multiple of them. At the same time.

I know this because I've died countless times to those exact mobs while doing the season races. And at level 1-10, I have 0% movement speed + 0 movement skills, so it's definitely not my character that's desyncing.

Monsters don't desync. Your character also doesn't desync. Your client desyncs from the server -- in fact, that's the natural state of things.

(Just made me twitch. Desync is annoying.)

All this BS in this thread about certain skills making worse. I run a summoner with dual totem. I play in the back. Desync has killed me many many many times. Not a mob on the screen and I have fell over dead.

When the server Desyncs it effects everything. Its not fixable period. To fix it would open the game up for cheating.

When I get burned out on it... I play something else.

FYI... This post is for venting. Thats all. Just had a desync death and i'm off to read. no desync there unless the author really sucks.

Hi Nightstone13,

I'm really sorry to hear about that. If this is happening constantly it's possible there may be a connection issue that's involved. Could you please email us at support@grindinggear.com with any details about your connection? Is it wired or wireless? Do you experience the same thing when connecting to a different gateway? Do you experience frequent lag or disconnections? Do things improve if you temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall?

If you can provide any of this information that should help us to figure out if there's anything prevantable going on here.

Many do... most give up on that skill. You don't need to use cyclone to play this game.

You should try to imagine what is actually happening to your character on the server. You are clicking to attack a monster you think is nearby, when on the server that monster is on the other side of a monster filled room. When you do, on your screen, you appear to attack that monster. On the server, you move into the room and the other monsters attack you and stop your attack. You have to play the game on the server... not on your client.

While I know this is true and responses to all questions like this is "you must play to the server" the big question is why? Why the hell is the PoE game engine so bad at keeping the server and client in sync? Yes... I know, if GGG had the answer then their "ocean" sized problem would have been crossed and desync would be very minimal. But lots of other always on-line games with many more than 6 players at a time don't have the high desync that PoE does. So what are they doing that GGG can't? Does minimal desync always mean allowing the client to do more and thus open up PoE to major cheat hacks and bots? I wonder how other arpg's and mmorpg's manage this successfully? Are they as desync-y as PoE?
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It's amazing how elitists defend this game by saying desync is not the main problem of this game. Hahahahaha. Ever wondered why playerbase is so low? It's due to the fact that this game is unstabile as hell.

lol, everyone I know who use to play and is not playing right now, have quit and play other games due to poe being way too unstable, it just has too many issues they agree its a great arpg but its flaws are so APPARENT, its hard to just ignore something that is there every 1-5minutes of gameplay.
hit me up @sarrow lets have fun :D

Yes, there are certain players that's very zealous when it comes to this area. My suggestion is to not pay attention.

I'm laughing angrily right now.

You just made it look like desynch was his problem.

Hi Boatsniper,

My response wasn't intended to rule out the possibility that the death was solely due to desync or to blame Nightstone13 for what happened. My apologies if that didn't come across - It's hard to know what's happening just from a report, and so I was interested to find out if there was something going on that we could help with.

I often see players with connection issues assume that the symptoms of packet loss or high latency are caused by or related to desync, and are therefore impossible to alleviate. Again, I can't say if that's happening here or not - I only have the report to go by.
