Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

D2 was also a game of permanent decisions making each character unique, and the attacks looked way better on D2. Plus the story of D2 is 100 times better and u just had that feel.

like everything with mass repetition it will get boring. But with addition of new skills and ladder resets/races they hope to extend their games shelf life.

How many people here are still playing d2?

Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

Game is good for mid levels and u can get to high level in short time. Then u can choose to continue or make another char (and that can be boring to do same thing again and again). If u continue around lvl 90 u have problem, its very hard to level because u r not getting exp from under 76 maps and u r forced to do 77s and 78s. At this point game is very very bad developed.

Map pool for 75 and 76 is 3 maps, for 77 and 78 only 2 maps. Its very expensive to make pool (77 and 78) and after lvl 90 u r not getting lot of exp but for 10x 78s u need 10ex. If u r joining party, fee is 3 and 4 cha and with good mf u cant get 1 cha from map. Currency drop rates are same for 66 and 78. Map drop mechanic is terrible too. From 66 map u can get 66,67 and 68 map. From 78 map u can get 66-78. So, when u look at "RNG", every 3-4 runs u will get more then 3 map drops but from 78 more then 2 will be under 75 (I sow 3x 66). And if u get same map lvl every run, after 10 runs its boring because only 2 maps in pool.

Item drops from high level maps is terrible. U will get good item (more then 1ex) 1/1000. 1/1000 with mf. Someone call it "RNG".

Unique drops are worse then terrible. All uniques (99% of them are crap) are valued to lvl 80. For example, from lvl 66 map u can get Mindspiral lvl 67 and from 78 map u can get Mindspiral lvl 80 with worse roll. And Mindspiral is valued 1 cha. Higher maps = more different uniques u can get = more uniques in general. Someone call it "RNG".

Crafting mechanic is bad too. U keep all ur jews/fuzings, u get over lvl 90, use them on item and u cant get 6s/6l. Someone call it "RNG". U use ur exa on lvl 80 item and get 1 int. How much exa ppl get in 4 months league? 1-4 maybe. U need to sell currency u get from vendor to get exa and u need same currency to pay maps, parties ....

So, ppl get bored because of these things. Not because 1 of them, because all of them. They burn 10x lvl 78 maps (10 exa), they get lot of low level maps, couple 77s and 78s. In them they get shitty uniques and rares and in 1/1000 items they get good rare and couple uniques worth 1-3 exa. They loose all jews to make that rare 6s, sell their exa to buy jews/fusings and then they see 600 fusings are not enough to make 6l. They use exa to craft lvl 80 item and they get low rolls on hugh level items. Someone call it "RNG".

Lets talk bout it. There is no RNG in this game. "RNG" is term here made by GGG but with terrible conditions. When u roll dice, u have same chances to get numbers 1-6. Thats RNG. Someone wonna tell me what chance to get soultaker and kaom's primacy is same? Ofc its not, in one day I sow 10x the blood dance drops but never sow soul, kaom, shav, mirror .... and im lvl 91 playing 4-5h per day. So if there are 200 uniques its not 1/200 chance to get soul ... its 1/million. And if someone (GGG in this case) control that chance ... its not RNG.


And after all this, if someone ask "Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

RNG just like in real life those who hit the jackpot think's it's the best thing. But those that get screwed by RNG leaves. We have all seen the threads 3k+ fusings still no 6l ppl spamming "why didn't you trade" in the thread. Yeah maybe someone wants to find and make their own gear crazy idea i know.
RNG, thats the main reason. After spending 1000-1500 hours in a game i am kinda disappointed, i know its RNG after all, but when i see ppl in a new league having crazy amounts of currency and items i can only flip the bird. I know trading is the way to go, but i just dont want to spent 2 hours with trading in a 5 hour gaming session.
Still loving this game, will probably come back after a few patches and fresh content

And everything you've said is RNG.

Soul Taker and Blackheart don't have the same drop rate, logical and reasonable.
2.5k+ hours, couple 90 chars, one 89 and 2 87's.

Never 6 linked my own item, have used thousands of fusings.

Not a SINGLE tier-3 unique ever found, matter of fact only 4 I've found worth over an ex, the highest being worth 5 exalts.

No PvP, nothing to really strive for..

Solo play is boring as ever doing the same maps with the same outcome, shitty loot.

Desync.

All of that in a nutshell. RNG was garbage for me, I even felt like my account was "flagged" because of how absurd my luck was. I don't know anyone with the same time played & end game grind that I did who hasn't found at least one tier 3 or something of that nature.

Tbh it just got boring. Got fed up with desync and the unexpected lame deaths.

Got tired of the dev's pushing harder and harder for party play, and seriously damaging the solo players.

You have to sit in trade all fucking day long only to deal with lowballers and merchants, that's no fun.

So yeah, I have a few reasons but most of them can get fixed..Will they? I doubt it man. But I stick around hoping to hear something good from GGG, but there are some very good aRPG's coming out shortly that's really going to give POE some competition and I can only hope for GGG"s sake that they make a couple BIG changes soon before they see the majority of their player base walk away.

Quite simple;

1. Technical problems result in best builds being the most auto-piloted ones.
Auto-piloted builds bore players fastest. People play MOBAs and FPS because reaction = fun, remove need for reaction or even worse make reaction based builds fare worse; and you get the magic formula to bore players fast.

2. Trade is MUCH more rewarding than grinding, and it is a chore designed to be as inconvenient as possible. Players will engage in trade otherwise it will feel their efforts of grind is completely wasted, but they will get bored while trading. If they dont trade their efforts will feel pointless and they will get bored.

Players will keep engaged in game passion the day technical issues limiting gameplay are removed and trade ceased being more rewarding than actually playing the game.
