Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

When you do something for hundreds of hours it eventually gets boring. PoE isn't a job, you are allowed to quit for a while :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

because hard work in this game does not simply pay off. the rich only get richer because they had the money to invest into legacies and the new players can barely make any money with these braindamaged drop rates.

" The drop rates aren't any better in Nemesis, but for the love of God man, get away from that league lol. No Legacy bs, nobody sitting on 150 duped Mirrors, and no 900 dps weapon Mirroring service fees for the low low price of 70 Exalted. That entire league is controlled by 10 people. We would love to have you hop on Nemesis or the Race Leagues. Come join the dark side! | |
" I do wonder about the mentality of some people that consider a game a failure if it gets boring after 1000 hours. "Danger is like jello, there's always room for more."

" Expectations > fun But something can be said for it, the time vs reward is totally out of whack in this game. I don't expect to be god mode in 500 hours of play. I do however expect to find a single upgrade in that time. It's a pitfall that you will eventually fall into if you have a bad rng streak for way to long. That's why a lot of the long term players are leaving imo. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" I wonder at the mentality of people who took 1000 hours to get bored. While I continued playing because there were builds I wanted to try, the major flaws of this game were readily apparent within a week of starting. There are still builds I'd like to try, but I can't afford the uniques they require, and I know I'm not going to find them so oh well... time to do something else for a while. I look forward to Act 4 releasing next year. |

Hardcore players quit because: The game is fucked up. Grinding sucks, it is way more rewarding trading.
Players who play for fun quit because: Desync kills them, they are tired of starting over, the point of the game may be re-roll and replay, but not for some players. Players who play for both reasons quit because of both reasons. And also optimization is bad. Players don´t have NASA PCs to play this game, and even if they play the newest games, they cant play this in its full potential ... full party huge group of monsters and skills and effects. EDIT: Map system is alright. http://www.myit-media.de/the_end.html Last edited by MGTopgun#1427 on Jan 10, 2014, 9:08:53 AM

Too much RNG regarding map system.
Very bad drop rates, too many junk rares/uniques, I'd rather prefer less but better. End game currency is in fact only avaible from trade. Desync. In that order. Those 3 factors keep me out for now. Still good game tho. |
