Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

End Game not rewarding at all..In 99 per cent of the case selling the lvl 75+ map you just dropped is more interesting than actually running the map..since you obviously only gonna drop shit on it.
Mostly because 90% of the power is stored in 1% of the population. Risk-reward is off, the relative punishing mechanics don't reward well enough to make them feel good.

PoE is really a lottery simulator, with massive gearchecks in possible efficiency curves.

In all honesty playing an hour of D3 on my top 10% gear crusader feels more rewarding than an hour of PoE in my dead center average gear level 60 Scion (in level 40 gear). Sure PoE has the draw of being "harder" but only in a pure gearchecky way, and I feel far more empowered playing my crusader than I have playing any character in PoE.

Also my friends play D3 and not PoE. Resulting in a months long hiatus.

I found the level design to be repetitive and boring most of the time. It seemed to be copy and pasted. That's why I lost my interest long ago. But I recently wanted to pick the game back up and give it another try mostly for the depth of the skill tree.

1) the crafting system is broken/awful/non-existant for all but the "pro" players. I recently burned 323 jewelers and 200 fusings on an armor. I never once saw 6s (#323 was the first 5s) and never once saw 5l. This isn't acceptable. You are asking me to consume currency that I could otherwise purchase with to randomly try to make something. In real life, I would NEVER do this. In this game, well I've done it the one and only time I'll ever do it. Crafting helms/boots/gloves to exactly what you want is easy (as far as sockets/colors/links go). There is no excuse that body armor should be different.
I just have to say that the body armor is harder mostly because of the sheer number of possible configurations, and some unforgiving relative weightings intended to prevent the 1% who play 18 hours a day from getting 6L within a day (it takes them two instead).

Edit note: Dominus is doable by an appropriately leveled character in normal and cruel assuming you have appropriate gear. Which you almost assuredly do not come even close to having.

Laugh how much you want, i and many others really don't care of this ;) This game is shitty designed, and heavily unbalanced, and this is a matter of fact. Aside item rarity gem (i have it and use it, and i can assure you that the situation doesn't change at all), and aside a blind defense of RNG (if i have 75% block, ONLY 25% of the hits must reach me, not 100% of them.. bad design even here!!!), the game is all but rewarding. See here..

5.600hp... one shotted!!! And one shotted by an ENFEEBLED Dominus (= at least, the physical part of touch of God must have been reduced in power, right?). Ok not very very high hp, but don't tell me that an experienced player like Colby has gone face to face with lvl78 Dominus without at least 75% lighting res!!! And, like another experienced guy like ZiggyD said in the comments, Colby doesn't even had shock stacks at the moment he went hit by touch of God. Now i expect some one else saying that the caps are not too low, and that the game is ok the way it is (=totally bathed in the crappiest randomness, and totally unrewardind at times, even if you have a good mastering of its mechanics).
I'm off with PoE, and with me the other friends of this and of many other complain threads (and all that have leaved the game without writing their decision, as for the record many has already leaved -said by friends before me-). I will not delete the account and maybe i will be back for act 4, hoping that something can change, but the way the game is now.. it simply doesn't really give you enough fun over lvl 60/70 IMHO, because grinding forever in the same (few) areas and killing the same (few) types of mobs only for obtaining some shitty yellow.. is all but fun

Dude was fighting one of the game's final bosses on the hardest difficulty level, and stood in his strongest attack with low life and unknown lightning resist. Add those all up, and yes, the character in that video will get one-shotted on occasion. That's not a "resists are too weak" issue, that's a "don't stand in the fire" issue.

As for your blocking dilemma, did the first hit stun/freeze you? Did you block an attack with poor block recovery, so you were open to taking six hits in a row? You can't play poorly and blame the game for being unbalanced, when other people are experiencing the same difficulties as you and winning.

Me, play poorly? O.o I let the enemies hit me intentionally, for the sole purpose of testing how good or bad was the 73% melee block, so not playing poorly at all, mate :/ And no, they didn't freeze or stun me, and i have block recovery :/ Bad luck of mine? Maybe, but i was expecting of "taking only 27 hits out of 100" :/

By the way, ColbyCheese has 5.600hp. They are not few at all, expecially if us all remember that, with GGG that nerfed Kaom heart, reaching the tremendous hp level of pre nerf (7/8.000 hp) is not a joke anymore :/
