Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

As new zones get released, the non-map max area level will raise accordingly.

As for me, I'm taking a break to clear out steam backlog. I'll play RoS when it comes out, then probably back to PoE at somepoint once I've cleared all the A+++ games in library.
I don't play this game because it's boring in my opinion.

Although I donated, I would rather invest my money in a plastic Dildo

than this game, in the future. That would provide me more pleasure.

We shall see if new content brings (G)reatness)to GGG in the future.

My guess is not, however. Sorry but I have been around too long to expect

delivery from a newb.
100 bucks in 1 year the core issues have not been addressed.

I think I'm gonna buy a dildo too... That sounds like fun!

It looks like the addictive trait D2 had, cannot be found anymore: D2 vs PoE

IMO, some of the money should be used to make an extensive research about psychology of the player. This, or just keep hoarding money for a GGG's second game where everything would be fixed and addictive.

So why do they lose their passion? Hard to say..

It's actually not that hard.

1. The rewards for time played at the higher levels are not good enough to keep us motivated to play.
(Item progression in no where near what it should be to sustain long play enthusiasm)
2. There is no real reason to play past a few maps as there is no level 100 conclusion to PoE.
(We need a level 100 pardon to our character and a cinematic of leaving
Wraeclast as a pardoned free person)
3. Desync is very tiring after you have experienced many deaths from it.
4. Crafting is not good (too much RNG gambling)
Also not enough jewellers and fusings orbs to try much socket/linking crafting.
5. The grind for better quality gear is tiresome past about level 60
6. Burnout from any or all of the above.

this :)

I said it before (back when they removed MoC and added maps) and i'll said it again. End-game based on RNG (maps) is just bad on so many levels. Or this is was the best way to cover up lacking end-game content?

Seriously for me maps are only endgame filler, i don't see any difference between running a catacombs, docks and a map, its all grinding and farming and even if my character isnt 100% complete I stop everything when my character reach lvl 80 (solo'ing 70-72) map

but what is the point ? for your character to reach lvl 100(even 80) and then once new content are released, you faceroll through it and start farming back ?

this game serisouly lacks content to play with.

Cuz desync and bad optimization. I could play this game for years just like i did with D2. But those 2 things keep me aside, playing Hearthstone now and wont be coming back here until they fix 1 of the 2 problems.

How to fix ? If people just stop buy shit and playing the game, see how fast they will fix it.

Np, some people are just too young to grab their balls and move. People just accept the poor statement of the game, and expect optimizations. Wont happen until they do something about it. Complaining doesnt work, not supporting the game and not playing it does. But hey, do what u want, have much betters things to do that playing games that are not worth my time and money.

Dildo it is then.

On a serious note I lost my passion only after full release. All the stuff that pushes me away were here during OB, but endured them all. Why? Because I thought at the very least the technical problems would significantly improve, if not fixed. Things that bothered me were;

Desynch preventing me from playing in a reactive manner, maneuvering, using mobility skills to get away reliably.

Lack of Comman Queue or the ability to cancel last action to perform urgent commands. That was taking away too much from the game. Especially considering we have to hold down and spam attack skill/spell.

Then full release came.

No improvements for desynch, still same old attempts at trying to sell it as a feature. "But if we remove desynch, we will lose ability yo dodge attacks in melee". Noone ever even attempts to dodge attacks in melee, it is asking for a massive desynch. But we cant lose that amazing mechanic that noone even attempts to use. Also not making areas wider to reduce desynch was refused as "it adds to the game atmosphere, it more important than gameplay".

No command queue addition, or ability to cancel last action neither. Excuse for no command queue was that "it is too complex a code". My reaction /facepalm. And excuse for ability to cancel actions was that "That would result in our animations skipping frames just like D3, we dont want to lose animation quality". That was just another facepalm. Who cares about animations, I cant even see them behind all that gore, skill effects. And I think D3 animations are pretty neat as they are as well. Even if the animations were really that good, eye candy should never EVER prioritize gameplay.

On top of that they added whole new technical problem: Horrible particle effects that frop FPS to single digits in Act3X. And then refused to give option to turn them off saying "We think they are important to the game atmosphere, who cares if it is not playable! All that matters is the atmosphere!!". That was my final facepalm and the last bit of my passion went away with it.

GGG's way of thinking that "Eye candies, atmosphere and some mechanics that noone ever attempts to use are much more important than gameplay, and we are willing to make any sacrifice from gameplay to improve them" made me lose all passion for PoE.
Nothing against PoE, but this whole thread is a bit silly. Do you REALLY expect someone like Kripp to play the same game 10+ hours a day for over a year? PoE isn't even a PvP type of game such as star craft that warrants constant play. This is like someone playing Mario Brothers every damn day for years...

No. Thanks.
GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!

Wow.
According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew?
